The Evening Standard is reporting today that Rafa Benitez wants to sign Kenedy this summer on a permanent deal.
Rafa wanted to have an option to buy Kenedy in the loan contract he signed in January, but Antonio Conte would have none of it since the manager sees Kenedy as a future first-team player at Chelsea.
But Conte is also thought to be leaving Chelsea in the summer, and a new manager will be brought in, and it would be up to him to decide the future of Kenedy.
At the very worst, if we cannot do a permanent deal for him, we could try to get him in on loan for the season – something that Rafa tried last summer.
Kenedy – born to play for Newcastle
Kenedy was signed from Fluminense for £6.3M back in 2015, and the Evening Standard are reporting the Blues would want to make a significant profit on Kenedy if they do decide to sell him.
If they are willing to sell this will be yet another big test for owner Mike Ashley who doesn’t like to spend Newcastle’s money.
But Kenedy has shown he is almost perfect for Newcastle and Rafa sees him as a vital player for the Magpies’ future.
It’s also interesting this news is coming out of London.
Newcastle should make a massive attempt to sign this lad in the summer even if costs up to £20M.
He’s just the type of young player Rafa could make great in a couple of years.
Hopefully, Kenedy will already know that from working with Rafa this year – he certainly seems very happy on Tyneside.

Comment #3I think we’ll get Kenedy next season, even if it’s just another loan. Chelsea have sold better players than him, and their loan farming is as much of a revenue stream as it is a path to the first team. I reckon £15m would do it, probably with a buy-back clause in case he really flies.

Comment #4Missed Ed’s bus earlier, repost…
Just watched the Carragher video. He was actually trying to say how much better Man Utd have been since they swapped Sanchez for Mkhitaryan, but has made a right mess of it. A real pity if that’s the last we hear from him.

Comment #11Let’s not get carried away, he had a decent game but he’s been bang average in other games. I think the lad has potential but he doesn’t look fit enough to me, if you watch him closely he always looks like he’s blowing.
