Benitez’ Passion And Enthusiasm For Football Rubbing Off On His Players

DeAndre Yedlin has revealed that after training at Benton Rafa Benitez regularly stays behind after the formal training has completed.

He is always willing to work with a player to improve a particular part of the game, and he also speaks with the players individually in his office.

It’s all about Rafa wanting to make each player under his management better players, and we’ve seen players improve under the tutelage of the world-class manager.

That’s something Kenedy may want to think of in the summer if he gets a chance to sign for Newcastle under manager Rafa Benitez.

So he is in regular communication with players, and during the training sessions on video, you often see him in conversations with players.

Excellent shot of Rafa Benitez with … looks Like DeAndre Yedlin

DeAndre Yedlin is one player who has improved since he joined us from Spurs in the summer of 2016 for £5M.

Here is an interview Yedlin gave Sky Sports’ Soccer Saturday before Newcastle’s excellent 3-0 win over Southampton last weekend.

“Of course we (a young squad) have had to adjust to life in the Premier League,”

“Just like with anything in life, when something new comes you’re going to have to adjust and learn about it. It’s the same with any job.”

“It’s a very tough league, it’s a league that I believe anybody can beat anybody in.”

“It’s taken a bit of time to adapt, especially for the younger players and some of the players who haven’t had that Premier League experience have done a great job of adjusting to it this season.”

“It’s taken a while but we’re finally really starting to come together as a team.”

“You know you’re stepping up a level in the Premier League from the Championship and there’s going to be losses along the way.”

“I think the Manchester United win makes a difference as it gave us some confidence that we could build on, and some momentum we can build on.”

“Rafa has loads of Premier League experience – and just loads of coaching experience in general,”

“He brings advice, he’s dealt with every different type of player and he’s a very personable coach.

“One on one, he’ll always want to talk to you no matter what it may be. Even if he has to stay out an hour after training to do something specific with you, he’s willing to do it.”

“As a player, that is great because it shows the trust he has in you, the confidence he has in you – and it shows he wants to help.”

Benitez is a fanatic about football – just like most Newcastle fans.

And that passion transfers itself to the training pitch and to the games.

Indeed, in our last two home games, our players have been like players possessed.

Love it!

Now we need another top performance in our next home games against Huddersfield Town.

If we can win that game, we’ll be well on our way to staying in the Premier League this season.

Howay The Lads!!

What the hell does Lascelles have to do to make the England squad. Its an absolute joke. Wont even give Shelvey a go either. I’m boycotting England. Literally cannot play for England if you play for Newcastle!

The racist remark allegation against Shelvey will not do his England chances any good. I believe that is what the obstacle is. Shelvey likely will not play for England again. Typical old boys club of hypocrites.

Lascelles not being in the England set up is the result of downright laziness on behalf of Southgate and his staff.

Except for Freddie Woodman, Adam Armstrong, Adam Wilson….

Not to mention Rob Lee, Peter Beardsley, Gazza, Chris Waddle, Stuart Pearce, David Batty, Les Ferdinand and a certain Alan Shearer.

Lascelles’ time will come, I’d rather he was in Spain with the lads.

Obviously i know the players that used to play. How long has it been since we have had a player in the squad though? Carroll a week or two before he went to Liverpool. I was talking more about the current management

I am frankly amazed Lascelles isn’t in the England squad. Even the neutrals have been tipping him for a call up to the squad at least, and I earlier posted a link from f365 which called him the best English defender on current form. Criminal, but better for the Toon I suppose.

For all the Dummett detractors, which in all fairness has wained, we see today another reason why desire to play for the club must more often be taken into consideration when evaluating a player. Always liked him, but even more after he decided to continue the preparation for the relegation battle over a call up.

As for Lascelles and Shelvey, I am glad they were omitted. Hope we keep both of them, so no need for their true value to be revealed. Fell bad if they are disappointed, but in our situation, sorry, but club over country.

masterp1983, sorry I was being facetious and I shouldn’t have been. I remember when it was a case of ‘how many’ would be called up for England, not ‘will we have one’ called up. It’s been a while since we had any regular starters, for sure.

The Chron report on Dummett is interesting – suggests he’s still eligible for England. Could he be holding out for an England call-up? Could be waiting a long time.

    repost after missing the bus…

A question for our match going regulars on the blog:

Living in the US, I have to watch the matches on tv so I don’t always get to experience what the crowd is doing. Through the tv you can often hear the crowd singing for Rafa Benitez, but I can’t pick up when they sing about any of the players in the squad. Do we have songs for Lascelles, or Shelvey or Ritchie and so on? I know they sang for Mitro but he is away. I just find it odd that it seems the only song that the Toon Army seems to currently know and sing is for Rafa.

Like most on here, I’m glad both Shelvey and Lascelles didn’t make the squad, so they can focus on keeping us up!
But when you look at some of the midfielders in that squad… we wont stand a chance at the world cup if we take players like lewis cook, we’ll need players like Shelvey who are actually willing to try a dangerous pass rather than backwards and sideways.

As for Lascelles, its a joke if he doesn’t get in. How Tarkowski is in there is beyond me, Burnley have been shocking since Christmas, and yet Southgate insists he picks players on current form (Welbeck as well?!)

Rafa has started putting plans in motion because two different prices have been agreed for the club. One as a PL team the other as a Championship side with the fat controller gone either way.

Victor Fenandez and Nathan Harker have been included in the Spanish trip but the NUFC site hasn’t mentioned the full party composition.

The fact that the U23s have a big game this Friday has probably meant the exclusion of some of the other youngsters.

When I think of the current England manager I think of a knacker FA yes man . He’s out of his depth ..it’s all posturing and photo ops..media spiel.. Southgate trying to look like the learnered professor of football on the touchline when all he really feels is he wants to scratch his balls but he can’t at that point as the cameras will pick it up ..absolutely useless shyte manager.

Iv lost all faith and hope as regards the English national team..

I come to the conclusion after watching the Iceland V England match..

None of the England players wanted to bust a gut or put any sort of work in ..the reason why is totally obvious..they do not want to go back to thier respective clubs and find themselves out of the team on account of injury sustained while playing for their second club ..England ..thus loosing win bonuses and another player stepping into their boots.

Bunch of Lazy f knackers and painfull to watch. Awful in fact. Ugh !

Couldn’t care less for the England national team, more disappointed for the players who are deserving of a call up yet missing out.

Tarkowski has been ok but he’s not even the best English defender at Burnley. That’s Ben mee, take him away like they did with Michael Keane and you’ll see the difference. Good defender he is. But when Southgate talks about Phil jones missing out due to injury just shows the problem there when he rates him better than lascelles, dunk etc.

He’s picked 4 keepers lol, joe hart of course. Why has he got 3 left backs, welbeck has hardly played. Henderson!! lol it’s a joke and what’s even more funny is the media and players will soon big up their chances to fall at the first hurdle and wonder where it went wrong.

I’ve always been a big England fan, I went to Japan in 2002 and been to the old Wembley to see them a couple of times. I still want to see them do well obviously but like a lot of people that last Euros was the final straw. A clueless manager leading a bunch of players who didn’t give a foot.

I was the biggest England fan as a kid….in the 70s the shirt meant something and a player would have to be really good to get a sniff..as you know. Remember Tony Currie getting his chance ..watched him play against Switzerland ..brilliant..think we won 7 nowt.

Back then the first division was littered with classy footballers who could all play ..each team had at least two players of Top international class.

Nowadays it seems that teams are full of athletes .. the skills of the past and real Footballers are in short supply. The foreign contingent are cherry picked by the rich clubs for their skills ..so it’s imported rather than nurtured through our academy’s.

Short term is important is false. Self defeating in the long run.

Lascelles is far better than Mawson & Tarkowski and could unite the team with his influence. Tarkowski and Pope are looking good because they are in a team with ten defensive players and therefore not conceding much. Southgate seems to want defenders who can recycle possesion (make easy passes) to go with his midfielders who can recycle possesion (pass sidewards). We’re going to be the best team in the World Cup at going sidewards. We might even win the trophy for highest possesion (in our own half). Brazil & Germany must be papping themselves trying to devise a strategy to stop us passing it backwards. If Kane stays injured we’re doomed. Rashford is over-rated and hasn’t improved at all since he burst on the scene. Welbeck?????? WTF!!! Even if Kane is fit who is going to create chances for him? Can any of our midfielders do anything other than run about and pass sidewards?

I’d be quite happy if England declined to take part in the World Cup in Russia.
It’d be a stronger gesture to Putin than simply saying that royalty and gvnt. officials won’t be going, it might encourage other countries to pull out as well, and so decrease the propaganda value of the competition, and importantly it would reduce the chance of British fans going over there to face a hostile and dangerous reception from, not only the locals, but also the police.
I fear for the safety of our fans should they travel to Russia in the summer.
