Newcastle have been linked with several players we are said to be interested in this summer, assuming we stay in the Premier League – but that’s hardly unusual
And the three players we have on loan could be three of our top targets this summer.
Goalkeeper Martin Dubravka has looked at a different level from Rob Elliot or Karl Darlow, and we have an option to buy him for €4M (£3.52) in his loan contract this summer.
That’s in addition to the €2M (£1.76M) loan fee, but that’s an absolute bargain, and the Chronicle said yesterday that Rafa would take up the option – and that’s hardly a surprise.
Kenedy – sign this player up as soon as possible
And Kenedy has been another star loan signing for us since January, and Rafa would sign him if that’s possible.
The good news is that Chelsea have put a price tag of around £15M on the 22-year-old Brazilian and that’s another decent transfer fee for a player who could become world-class under Rafa Benitez.
So for less than £20M, it appears we could buy these two players, who are having such a positive impact in the side.
Martin Dubravka – in action against the Red Devils in debut
It looks like Dubravka is already a done deal, but we were not given an option to buy Kennedy by Chelsea manager Antonio Conte.
We are hoping that Newcastle can try to get this deal done as soon as possible with even a pre-contract agreement that Kenedy will sign for us in the summer at a price Chelsea request.
It would be smart to do the deal right now before too many other clubs get wind that Newcastle have a chance to sign him.
We are hoping Kenedy loves it at Newcastle and he has started the last six games.
And the young Brazilian has already played at home to sold-out St. James’ Park crowds when we have beaten both Manchester United and Southampton in successive home games.
Joining Newcastle this summer could give his career a huge lift, and he would get plenty of playing time.
If Kenedy does join Newcastle under Rafa’s tutelage, he has every chance of becoming a star player for Newcastle in future years.
And we should be doing everything possible to sign Kenedy now.
When Islam Slimani finally plays for Newcastle, and if he’s as good as the two loan players we have just discussed, then he may even be worth the £20M Leicester City want for him – but that’s still to be decided.
Dubravka and Kenedy have made Newcastle a better side already – sign them up.
