Rafa Reveals His Increasing Confidence In Team And Midfield Star

Rafa Benitez seems to be sure the Newcastle team is finally improving and learning from the mistakes they have made this season.

We have lost points because of a lack of experience in what is a young side.

But we couldn’t have asked for anything better in the last two home games when we kept clean sheets and got wins against Manchester United (first time in six years) and Southampton.

We play Huddersfield two weeks tomorrow, and if we can get another good win in that game, we will be in good shape in the Premier League and likely to survive.

Jonjo Shelvey and Rafa Benitez

Jonjo Shelvey was a star in both those games and is in top form for Newcastle at the moment when it really matters.

The lads are in Spain until Sunday and Rafa has talked about Jonjo Shelvey and his increasing confidence in Newcastle’s young side:

“He was injured during the week.” “He was pushing really hard.”

“We felt that maybe he couldn’t play but he was desperate.” “That is positive for the team.”

“You know that they will improve and you know that they will get results.”

“Sometimes it has been bad luck or a lack of experience.”

“In the end they continue to work hard and that’s the only way.”

“I have confidence in them and confidence we’ll do it.”

Earlier in the season, we thought Rafa would sell Jonjo this summer, but we’re not so sure now.

When he can control his demons, Jonjo is a top player for us, and he seems to want to improve under the guidance of Mr. Benitez.

Let’s hope Jonjo can do that and continue to play in top form for Newcastle through mid-May – we need him to do that.

And we need to survive.

Howay The Lads!!
