Rafa Benitez Admits To Disappointment For His Players

Both Jamaal Lascelles and Jonjo Shelvey didn’t make the England squad for the upcoming games during the International break.

And while Rafa was disappointed for them, he was pleased to be able to have them available for the two weeks.

Rafa is preparing the team for our next crucial game at home to Huddersfield on March 31st.

Jamaal Lascelles – didn’t make England squad

This is what Rafa has said in south-east Spain about the England squad, and still, no Lascelles and/or Shelvey included:

“I’m disappointed for them but at the same time happy for us,”

“It means we can keep them with us and we can carry on working on the things that we need for the rest of the season.”

“Jamaal is a young player, Jonjo has more experience. They have plenty of time.”

“If they keep going and get more experience, they have time to go to the national team in future.”

It was a surprise that Jack Wilshire of Arsenal was included in the squad – not sure why.

Burnley players James Tarkowski (center-back) and goalkeeper Nick Pope are in the squad.

That’s in addition to Swansea center-back Alfie Mawson and Bournemouth midfielder, Lewis Cook.

England will play friendlies against the Netherlands and Italy.

I can still remember the year that Chris Waddle was European Player of the Year , and Graham Taylor did,nt have him in the England Squad for the European Cup ! Everyone thought Taylor and if i remember correctly Taylor lost his job just after that E.C. It would seem that not much has changed since that time? Their loss and our gain! Got tickets for the game in Amsterdam next week, seen by the most Dutch fans across here as a waste of time !
