Same Old Story Against Royal Antwerp – Missed Chances In 1-1 Draw

Newcastle drew 1-1 with Royal Antwerp in the friendly this afternoon which was in three 45 minutes halves.

After the usual 90 minutes, the score was 1-0 to Newcastle due to a goal from Matt Ritchie in the first period.

Royal Antwerp equalized early in the third period and then, would you believe it, but late in the game striker Dwight Gayle missed a penalty.

That would have at least got Newcastle the win against the Belgian side in the 135-minute game.

From the reports coming in from the journalists at the game, it was the same old story with Newcastle creating several chances, but we couldn’t convert them.

Rafa will not be too pleased about that – the last thing we want in a couple of weeks time is to dominate Huddersfield at home but be unable to convert any of the chances.

It’s another reason we hope that Islam Slimani will be available for that game on March 31st.

That seems to be the bottom line in today’s friendly – Newcastle created the chances but couldn’t score more than one goal, and we missed a penalty too.

Same old same old.

Dwight Gayle 289 minutes per goal 1447 minutes played, ok lets be honest here when you read this you have got to think WTF, 5 goals in the Premiership. Now lets look at a player who wanted to play for us but someone at the club didn’t think it was that important. Cenk Tosun went to Everton because they paid the money,106 minutes per goal 424 minutes played, so you see a ton different, but let just say we actually need to lower the amount that Cenk has played, to be honest this is his first season in the premiership and he only signed in January and it takes a few games to get adjusted to the pace, so that’s 4 goals in about five games. Yes Ed, Newcastle fans have wondered why we are the same week in week out most of the time, well that what MA thinks. If only he listened to his fans and manager we would not be in another fight and worrying who will be scoring the goals. Royal Antwerp ROFL.
