The Chronicle is reporting that Rafa Benitez may try to lure Manchester United left-back Luke Shaw to Newcastle this summer.
For whatever reason Jose Mourinho has never seemed to rate the 22-year-old former Southampton player, and he looks certain to leave the Red Devils this summer.
Shaw cost Manchester United up to £30M when he signed almost for years ago, but he’s unlikely to cost that much this summer – but the fee will still be high.
Luke Shaw – Rafa interested
He has played only 62 times for the Red Devils in just under four seasons and while at Southampton he played 67 times in two seasons.
Luke has 7 England caps since making his debut as an 18-year-old in February 2014 in a friendly against Denmark.
Shaw is unhappy at the moment, and a move could very well reinvigorate his career – especially if he moves to a club with a top manager like Mr. Benitez.
Paul Dummett has been one of our best payers since he returned from his hamstring injury, but Rafa will be after any players who can improve the competition at Newcastle.
The chances of Newcastle getting Luke Shaw, however, are small and there could be other left-backs out there who offer a much better deal for Newcastle.
We do expect Rafa to bring in another full-back this summer to replace Spanish player Jesus Gamez whose contract runs out in June and will not be renewed.
