Rafa Likely To Return For This 27-Year-Old Striker This Summer

Let’s hope it’s going to be an exciting summer at Newcastle given that Rafa stays on Tyneside.

It will be (yet) another test of Mike Ashley to see if he gives Rafa some decent money to spend in the summer.

And if Ashley wants Rafa to sign a new long-term deal, he will have to prove to Rafa he has some ambition for Newcastle to become a top team again.

That could prove difficult for Ashley.

Rafa has also said the way Newcastle do their transfer business must change.

So we are hoping that’s the case this summer and Newcastle can do their transfer business a lot quicker than in the past.

They must stop arguing seemingly over the last penny of the fee for a transfer target; Ashley must pay out transfer money more willingly.

Feyenoord striker Nicolai Jorgensen

A good test will be if Rafa still has 27-year-old Feyenoord striker Nicolai Jorgensen as his number one striker target.

If he does than Newcastle must be willing to pay the going rate, and if Rafa still wants the Danish International, we may have to pay out £20M for him after we offered around £15M in January.

Jorgensen’s wages would be doubled if he makes a move to Newcastle.

He wanted to come to Tyneside in January and is disappointed the deal didn’t go through.

He is on International duty with Denmark at the moment, and this is what he has told Denmark outlet Tips Bladet:

“It was a little annoying. Of course, it is always nice to know that there is a club that will pay so much money for one.”

“So of course it gave me confidence, but at the same time a little bit of sigh.

“It is, of course, a big dream for me to end up in such a league.”

We expect Rafa to push for quick deals this summer so he can quickly see if Mike Ashley is willing to do the deals Rafa needs to make Newcastle a much better team next season.

At the very least we should be comfortable in the top ten next season and not fighting relegation.

Fighting at the bottom is too hard on the old nerves, and fans have had far too much of it over the last five seasons.

What do you think?

“… with Gayle coming into form …”

As long as he isn’t taking penalties!

    Hibbit and Rob (last thread)

Rafa does not bring players back from injury when there is even the slightest risk of exacerbating that injury. That is one of the many traits that sets him apart from his various panicky predecessors.

From the videos that I’ve seen of Slimani, he is a far better striker than Gayle and Mitro (and, of course, Joselu).

I think the injury is slight but genuine and that we will see him play for a short spell against Huddersfield and then for the rest of the season (except Leicester, of course). I don’t think there’s enough evidence for a conspiracy theory here.

Well Hibbit that’s quite possible, it’s amazing what goes on that we will never know.

    geordietom,
Nice one that made me giggle and its not very often something makes me giggle. THANKS I needed it.
I think this lad Jorgensen could be good buy as well as a decent striker to compliment what we already have. AND, He wants to play for us which is an added bonus. £20M Definitely YES.
