Rejuvenated Star Player – It’s Another Final Against Huddersfield Coming Up

It’s not something we were expecting, but the form this year of Mo Diame in Newcastle holding midfield position has been little short of a revelation.

Rafa has found the appropriate position for the former Senegal International, and he is making a real difference for Newcastle when it counts most.

After Mo signed for around £4.5M from Hull City in the summer of 2016, he did not have a good season in the Championship.

By his own account, he was disappointed with the form he showed last season.

But he has started every game for Newcastle this year, and he’s playing his best football since arriving at the club.

Mo Diame – in action against Manchester United

Giving up International Football a year ago will also help the 30-year-old former West Ham player.

This is what Mo has said as reported in the Chronicle today

“When you’re in good form, you want to keep going, and the break can be a bad thing.”

“It’s good to keep going and play game after game and training after training and keep the same attitude and the high fitness.”

“I’m enjoying it a lot. It’s what I wanted to since the beginning, but unfortunately, it couldn’t happen, so now I’m trying to enjoy it a lot better.”

“I need to make sure that I stay at a high level.”

“It was a friendly game (last Sunday against Royal Antwerp) that we needed to keep the shape and keep this team in the same attitude and fitness.”

“It was more for the fitness than anything, but it was important.”

“I think that the Belgian team thought that they were going to play against an English team, so they said ‘we have to fight and make some tackles.”

“That’s because when they watch the Premier League that it is, physically, a big battle, so they were prepared for that.”

“It was good. I think that the attitude of the team was good.”

“We were working all week in training. We were working hard, so it was just to get more minutes.”

“After, we’ve got another week without a game, so we need to make sure everyone keeps their fitness high in training.”

“It’s (our next game at home to Huddersfield on March 31) going to be another final, like the game we won before against Southampton.”

“It’s going to be a massive game at home.”  “3 points is the goal, and that’s it.”

We are currently one point ahead of Huddersfield with a game in hand and have a much better goal difference (-10 versus -27).

So if we can beat them at home a week on Saturday, we will be in a good position in the league table.

We’ll have 35 points with just 7 games to play and 4 points above the Terriers.

Here’s how things stand at the moment.

The Chronicle are recycling stories as nowt is happening, so Ed is recycling stories, so we’re about to start recycling comments. Think my head is going to explode! At least we’ll be able to discuss the relative performance of the NUFC players in an England shirt after tomorrow evening.

    What’s that?

    Oh…..

That said, congrats to Adam Wilson who made his first start in an England U18s team this week and helped them to a 4-0 win over Qatar. Hopefully the first of many games in an England shirt for him

Freddie Woodman is with the U21s. Anyone know why Adam Armstrong has been overlooked? He’s in great form.

The most common pet hamster, the Syrian hamster, also known as the teddy bear hamster or golden hamster, usually grows to about 6 inches (15.24 cm) around six and half inches on it’s hind legs.

Ignore my comment about recycling comments – never seen a single hamster comment on here before, let alone two in one thread.

    Geraniums, yes, hamsters….

    Jail earlier thread

Re Ashley gets a kick out of high risk gambling.
I have to admit it had crossed my mind, “THAT” and insanity. I estimated the drop into the Champo could have cost the club 180Mill I didn’t see us coming back up any time soon. Ashley must have known this, You would think anyone with that amount of money at stake would have had targets lined up at the beginning of the window, but Ashley did nothing, all through the transfer window until the very end ,we could have ended up with nothing at all. If we had not got those late deals over the line then i wouldn’t have give our survival much of a chance. I can’t see Ashley and Rafa thrashing out a new contract I think they will be too far apart and I wouldn’t blame Rafa for not trusting Ashley

    Geraniums
Many species are important in the perfume industry. In fact, scented geranium oil is often used to supplement (or adulterate) expensive rose oils. The best thing about scented geraniums is that the leaves and flowers are edible. They can be used to flavor jellies, cakes, butters, ice creams, iced tea, sugar and more.

NB Not all geraniums are edible. Some can be mildly toxic to humans.

Appreciate its a slow week but football related, I had a little chuckle last night….when we were relegated my sister in law bought me a watercolour from an art fair at Barnes institute in Whitburn depicting 2 Sunderland supporters having a go at the Newcastle fan, she thought it was funny and I hung it on the wall. Last night I was watching Look North and they were on about Sunderland’s dire position in the Championship, I looked up and saw the picture and thought, funny how things change and had a little chuckle ! Needless to say the sister in law is still on speaking terms…

The Magpies’ April trip to Everton has been changed to a Monday night despite tickets having been on sale for the original date
Football authorities are facing questions with Newcastle United fans being left out of pocket after their trip to Everton was moved for television coverage.
The match, originally scheduled for Saturday April 21, has now been switched to Monday April 23 with an 8pm kick-off time.
Sky Sports have chosen to broadcast the Magpies’ trip to Goodison Park – causing yet more disruption for the travelling Toon Army.
It is the 11th time the Magpies have been chosen for television coverage away from home this season, causing more problems for fans who have already paid for accommodation and travel.

Newcastle United supporter group Wor Flags were quick to voice their disdain, labelling the decision a ‘kick in the face’ for away supporters.
