Report – Player’s Injury Not Serious – But Will Still Miss Huddersfield Game

There’s news in African Foootball.com that Islam Slimani’s injury is ‘not serious’ according to Algeria’s assistant coach Djamel Menad.

But it was also not serious when he signed for us in the final hours of the January transfer window almost two months ago.

Slimani did not play for Algeria in the 4-1 win against Tanzania and is now unlikely to play in the upcoming friendly against Iran on Tuesday.

He is yet to make his debut for Newcastle, and that’s unlikely to happen next Saturday when we are at home to Huddersfield in a crucial relegation 6 pointer.

Islam Slimani – training in southern Spain – injury is not serious

This is what the assistant coach Djamel Menad has said:

“Brahimi and Slimani ? – I do not think they will be attacking but we’ll see by Tuesday,”

“Brahimi’s injury is not serious, but it requires rest. Same thing for Slimani but we will see what will happen.”

“For changes, I do not know, we will see with the staff during training.”

So Slimani went out slightly injured to join the Algeria squad last Monday, and there seems to be little change in his condition.

He’s been out an awfully long time with the thigh injury.

Since Islam is unlikely to feature for Newcastle next Saturday against the Terriers, the earliest he can make his debut for us is on Sunday 15th April at home to Arsenal.

We do have Leicester City before that, but he cannot play in that game.

How can it possibly “Not be serious”, when he’s been out for at least 2 months????

From last blog. Glad Steve Smith has been suspended by Oz cricket but for how long? I’ve loathed the pig-face for a long time – excellent batsman but hasn’t an ounce of sportsmanship – Ben Stokes obstruction incident just one example. Did anybody see his cringe-worthy apology on TV? “I’m sorry – we fell below the standards and the spirit of the game = Damn! We got found out!”

MA & Charnly likely know Slimani was out for the season, but had to sign someone or Rafa would walk away. My money is on Slimani making a 5 minute cameo at the end of the Chelsea game for his only appearance. Then they will talk about how they will try to make the deal permanent so they won’t have to sign anyone during the summer. That deal will fall through, and it will be Gayle and Joselu again.

Slim is either taking the p##s or he’s a soft sh##e. There can be no other explanation. What ever happened to the tough ready to go footballers ! They always have an excuse these days. Bunch of p##fs ! Spend less time looking in the mirror and grow a pair and earn your wages.

He’s missed a total of 115 days through thigh and groin injuries over 3 seasons missing 35 games (so far)

Seriously, what was the point. It was described as a ‘small problem’ by Rafa back when we signed him and it’s kept him out 2 months so far. What a mess

Its been one annoyingly bad charade that quite frankly is getting well past tedious. Is it only us, its certainly feels like it.
