Sky Sports Pundit Predicts Newcastle vs Huddersfield Result

It’s not often that Paul Merson predicts a Newcastle win, but that’s what he’s doing for Saturday’s crucial game at home against fellow relegation strugglers Huddersfield Town.

Not sure whether that’s good or bad.

Last time out against Crystal Palace at home, Huddersfield were very poor in the 2-0 defeat, and manager David Wagner will demand a much-improved performance at St. James’ Park.

And Wagner has done well against Newcastle winning two of our three games recently, and they won 2-1 in this game in the Championship last season and won 1-0 at John Smith’s Stadium last August.

Paul Merson – predicts rare Newcastle win

Here’s what Paul Merson has said:

“I think Huddersfield melted last time out against Crystal Palace – they literally bottled it.”

“They were poor, they didn’t have a shot, they didn’t really have a go at Crystal Palace and it got the better of them in a big football match.”

“I think Newcastle at home will have too much for Huddersfield.”

“They never, ever looked like threatening to score against Crystal Palace and I watched them against Swansea the week before that and they played against 10 men for 79 minutes.”

“That’s more than with injury time – and they never really looked like scoring there.”

“There was one great save the goalkeeper made and Tom Ince hit the outside of the post.”

” David Wagner should have changed it quicker and put the big center-forward on.”

“I worry for Huddersfield now, this game is a big game and I see Newcastle winning.”

Paul predicts: Newcastle 2-0 Huddersfield

If we can keep a clean sheet on Saturday, we should have a very good chance of taking the 3 points.

But we cannot go into this game thinking it will be anything but a very tough match.

Another early goal again would help Newcastle.

Tbh, I don’t worry about our defence or defending. For the most part we are good at that and only occassionaly letting in 2 goals or more when lascelles is playing. It’s whether we can score goals otherwise a good performance could easily be a 1-0 defeat.

Was talking in terms of managing Ben arfa in reply to your post. If Leicester sign him then they have a manager who got a lot out of him before. Would be good for both Leicester and bennarfa

Expecting that we’ll avenge our loss to them from earlier in the season, just like last season in the championship.

Regardless if it was in France or Iceland. You work with anyone one place in another world, why would your relationship with that person be affected by working in a different country. You’re right, it can be hard work sometimes lol.
