Rafa Gives Injury Update – Slimani Fit For Tomorrow – Striker Out

Rafa Benitez has given his press conference this afternoon for the vital relegation 6 pointer against Huddersfield Town at home tomorrow.

It’s really vital that we win this game and make it three home wins in a row following our excellent wins against Manchester United (1-0) and Southampton (3-0).

There can be no letdown tomorrow.

Rafa Benitez – during a recent press conference

Rafa gave an injury update to the press, and it’s a good one with everybody fit except Joselu – who has twisted his ankle:

“Ritchie had a little problem but have done the tests and he is fine.”

“Slimani is also fine so he is fine. Joselu has twisted his ankle so he will be out for a week or so.”

“We had a fitness plan for Slimani, we were in contact with the federation and it was a good idea for everyone that he played some minutes.”

“It is good for his confidence and he is in the squad for tomorrow”

“In the end, the idea he could play minutes in the second game was good for him and good for us.”

“Gamez and Elliot are back and the rest of the team is fine”

We expect Slimani to start the game on the bench, but he could make his debut in the second half depending on how the game is going.

If we are winning 5-0, he’ll definitely get on.

    Shame about Joselu.
So that sounds like we will likely see Slimani on in the second half at some point?
    Looking forward to that.

Brilliant. Perez at 10, or Kenedy and Atsu on the left? Can’t wait to see Slimani get on the pitch

    Dubravka
    Yedlin Lascelles Lejeune Dummett
    Shelvey Diame
    Ritchie Perez Kenedy
    Gayle (Slimani)

Jib would you like me to hit the next button for you?

Perhaps your mate Jesper can check your oven to see if you’ve got any dodgy cookies in there 🙂

I be the udders are relieved the mighty Joselu is out , only to be possibly replaced by Slimani……..I just hope we get at them from the off and get a couple of early goals to dull their enthusiasm and increase ours…….a nice few goals to nil would be great for our gd too and make theirs worse. Hoping for a 3:0 would accept 1:0 but expecting 0:0 unless Slimani is up for it when he comes on and manages to put one of the chances created away instead of us having to rely on midfielders and defenders for goals

I believe you should be saying “when” we are 5-0 up Ed ?

And that will mean he has to come on before the first half ends 😀

Slimani should not start this game and unless we are 2 – 3 up somewhere within the second half will depend on how much time he gets. If we need a winner with say 15 minutes to go which of course I am not wishing for then he will get on as a last throw of the dice. Lets hope we are 2 – 3 goals up and he comes on with say 30 minutes and adds to that total. Other scenario, one of our strikers gets injured and Rafa has to put him on early and he score a couple making him a Toon Fav of the bat. Anyhow, as we all know, the wins the most important thing but like a Yeti that people swear to have seen ( Yeah Right ) in the mountains I do hope we get a sighting of our very own Algerian Yeti.
