Rafa Explains Why Newcastle Must Be Careful Against Huddersfield

Last time out two weeks ago the Terriers were beaten 2-0 at home by fellow relegation battlers Crystal Palace.

And it was a poor performance from the Huddersfield team, and manager David Wagner will insist his team play all out at St. James’ Park this afternoon.

And last season Wagner manufactured a 2-1 win in our second game of the Championship season, so they have already shocked us once at home, and they also beat us 1-0 in August in Yorkshire.

The 2-1 loss at St. James’ Park last season meant that we lost both our two opening games and Geordie fans were in shock.

David Wagner – Huddersfield Town manager

Let’s hope we don’t lose this afternoon in such an important game for survival in the Premier League.

We need all 3 points.

Rafa is well aware of the danger this Terriers side poses for Newcastle, and he said this in the Chronicle:

“We have to be careful here because we’re talking about a team that are well organized and they’re quite aggressive.”

“They go for it in some games but they are capable of staying deep, staying well organized and counter-attacking.”

“It’s not an easy game.”

“Both teams will feel they are in a position they want to win in.”  “At the same time, we have to manage the anxiety and the tension.”

“Hopefully, with our fans behind us it will help and we get three points.”

“They are well organized and know what they have to do.” “Sometimes they press high and they wait.

“When they played against Man City they attacked, but attacked just three times, not 20.”

“They know what they have and what they need to do, they are doing well as a team.”

“They are newly promoted like us and Brighton.”

I can’t imagine what the scenes will be like at WHU today if they look like losing. It’ll be carnage, but hey, the UK taxpayers are paying for the extra security.

Oh how I missed this…MATCH DAY BABY!! I would love a win and Slimani to come on and perhaps score, but in all honesty I think this will be a draw. Both teams too similar and cautious. Hope I am wrong and we thrash em!

    HWTL!

A good high scoring win is needed. This will boost everyone’s confidence both on the pitch and the city.

Well in about half our I will be away into toon. I don’t think Huddersfield will be as easy to beat as Southampton were we won’t get an easier win at home than that for the rest of the season take nothing away from the lads tho the early goal destroyed them think even WBA will put up a better show than Southampton.
I would love to see Silami come off the bench and score the winning goal to shut all the moaners up wait until he has played a few games before you judge him. 3-1to the toon.

A classic fall apart game for NUFC. Have not won 3 in a row at home for 2,000 years. Huddersfield due for every funny bounce and carom. Some NUFC player will be wrongly sent off, and Huddersfield will get a controversial penalty. Sound about right?
