Newcastle have started to play really well this season, and it’s the central midfield partnership of Mo Diame and Jonjo Shelvey that seems to be the difference.
We’ve also been strengthened by Kenedy and Dubravka coming in on loan, and both players have been outstanding.
Against Manchester United’s expensive stars Mo and Jonjo bossed the midfield in that 1-0 win and in the game against the Terriers on Saturday they did the same thing.
Alan Shearer – Mo and Jonjo bossed the midfield
They basically ran the game for Newcastle.
And Alan Shearer was a happy man on BBC Match of the Day, and he said this about the two in-form midfielders:
“The midfield was where the game was won and lost. Jonjo Shelvey and Mohamed Diame bossed the midfield.”
“They work so well as a partnership.”
“Shelvey was quicker, brighter and sharper than anyone else on the pitch. His passing again was superb.”
“It was a very well deserved and big three points for Newcastle.”
Newcastle have hit some good form just when it matters.
And now we have out third on loan player – Islam Slimani fit – he can get us some goals in the remaining games.
But he’s not eligible to play at Leicester City on Saturday – a game we can win if we play at our best.
