Star Player Determined To Finish Season With A Bang

Mo Diame thinks that if we can keep our good form of this year going through the final 7 games of the season, we could finish in a decent position in the Premier League table.

And since we are just 2 points behind 10th placed Bournemouth with a game in hand it certainly looks possible at the moment to finish in the top ten.

Our goal difference of -9 should also come in useful if we are tied on points with other sides at the end of the season.

Mo Diame – wants to finish as high as possible

Rafa Benitez will be very keen to keep taking one game at a time and doing everything possible to win each game.

Here’s what Mo has said in the Chronicle:

“It was a huge win for us against Huddersfield. We are very happy but we just have to keep going,”

“Yes a top-half position is possible, we have to think about finishing as high as possible.”

“For a club like us, it is important to have a big target for next season – which we can have if we finish high enough in the table.”

“We have to put down a marker. But if we only finish 16th or 17th then the target will be just to finish above the relegation zone again.”

“That is not what we want.”

“We just have to keep going even when we think we are safe so that we finish the season well and end up in a good position.”

Newcastle lost five home games in a row earlier in the season, but now we have won three home games in a row.

That’s a sign of how our players are a lot more confident these days, plus the fantastic support they are getting from the crowd.

We know the lads all give 100% these days with Rafa at the helm so now it’s a case of roaring them on to wins at home.

We are not too bad away from home either, and Rafa (and Mo) will be trying to get all 3 points at Leicester City on Saturday.

There’s no reason we cannot do that.

Just missed the bus as I finally caught up, but hadn’t posted.

    Afternoon all

    Loved this comment
“Rafa has turned Diame into prime Patrick Vieira and Dummett into prime Maldini and its brilliant #NUFC”

Also nice to see Rafa agreeing with me re. Ayose’s dribbling skills, but as he says he adds other virtues to the team overall.

    Is Diame the new Messi?

You’d think he was with all the articles being written about him on this site

I don’t think so, they’re gone, a team that has managed three wins all season will now have to manage to win four of their last six while Palace lose four of theirs, even if they do WBA would have to match their other results. Whoever comes in will be someone already at the club and already resigned to relegation. They only thing they have to play for is avoiding eleven straight defeats, the club record.
