Rafa Could Guide Newcastle To Second Best Season Ever Under Ashley

Rafa Benitez is a football fanatic and a perfectionist.

So at the moment, he’s pounding it into his players at Benton that we still have points to get to 40 and very likely safety from relegation.

We don’t know if Mike Ashley will again try to sell the club when we are safe from relegation but if he does the last few games will likely be under the hope of a new owner coming in.

That had some adverse effect from October last year on our results, but once we get to 40 points, Rafa will still be wanting to win every single remaining game.

Rafa Benitez – 9th place would give him the second-best season ever under Ashley

If we can end this season on a high by getting some good results that will give Newcastle momentum for next season and also in the transfer market.

And of course the higher we finish in the league, the more money we will get from the Premier League.

Last season Leicester finish where we are now – in 12th place – and they earned £120.7M – that’s a lot of money.

We have finished in the top 10 only twice in the Premier League under Mike Ashley in 11 years – 5th in 2012 and 10th in 2014.

So if we can finish 10th or higher, it would be the third-best finish under Ashley – when he didn’t support Rafa with much money at all this season.

Premier SeasonPositionNumber of Points
2008-20091834 - relegated
2009-20101 (Championship)102 - promoted
2015-20161837 - relegated
2016-20171 - (Championship)94 - promoted
2018-20191818 - after 22 games

Maybe the second best season since 2007 – let’s call it the Rafa effect – with little money to spend.

Think what Rafa could do if he gets some money form Mr. Ashley this summer.

I think I predicted in martoon’s little competition that we would finish 13th on 43 points. Not a bad guess I think although 43 points might mean a higher finish that 13th this season.

I think I had lejuene as player of the season.

Had Mitro as top goal scorer with 11 goals. That looks like it will happen actually, although not with us lol.

    Repost (bus moved on)

I’m sure Rafa will not expect too much to happen too soon,
but I very much doubt he would be up for another season
    in the relegation battle.

He hasn’t enjoyed this season and will not want another one
    the same.

I still reckon he will see out his contarct (one more year) but
will NOT sign a new contract with ANYONE without written

Problem could be that if we finish 9th/10th, Ashley
will argue he was proved right to limit transfer funds.

That brings it back to Rafa who will NOT commit his
    future to continued relegation battles.
He has NOT enjoyed this season.

I see him completing his contract but will NOT sign
any future commitment without solid assurances
(and that includes any possible new owner)

If we can finish off strong and end up top 10 that would be more than I ever could dream off for this season. I am sure Rafa would be happy to see us in the top 10. It is a lot to build on for next season. Lets go for Europe. The Rafalution is much under way. Keep calm and support the team.
