Former Star Approves Of Rafa Loan Signing

Shay Given has been talking about Newcastle’s new goalkeeper Martin Dubravka, who has made an astonishing difference since he joined the club during the last few hours of the January transfer market.

Martin had a fabulous debut against Manchester United, and in the five games he’s played we have three wins (all at home) and 10 points – an excellent return.

Martin has three clean sheets ion the five games and still has top conceded a goal at St. James’ Park.

Martin Dubravka Shay Given impressed by new goalkeeper

Since Martin is keen that Newcastle stay in the Premier League so he can make the move permanent – he’s certainly done his bit so far.

This is what Shay has said in the Chronicle:

“His start against Man United was Roy of the Rovers stuff,”

“Coming into the Premier League, a new country and new language, and he looked like he had been there for 10 years.”

“It was a fantastic debut and he’s just given the whole football team, the whole club, a lift.”

“The confidence he gives as well, he’s very positive on crosses and the Man United game he made some vital saves.”

“The crowd up there, when you make a big save it’s like scoring a goal, they’re right behind you and give you huge support .”

“Rafa was wanting a goalkeeper for 18 months and it’s only a loan deal but he would be mad not to tie him down to a long-term contract.”

“Kenedy is on loan as well and Rafa has had to wheel and deal in the transfer market.”

“You just wish he could be given a bit more money to compete with the big boys.”

Dubravka’s performances show how strong a character he has and certainly his temperament is first class.

We think the fee in the loan contract is €4M which in today’s exchange rates is about £3.5M.

An absolute bargain for Newcastle.

Sorry mate, I too have a lot of mackem mates and they deserve their plight. I’m not sure if you use Facebook or not but even recently when we were on that horrible run, they thought they’d hit the jackpot with a Wales manager, they were rubbing our noses in it while they were fourth bottom of the Championship and we were fourth bottom of the PL.

Arty, i work with a few mackems and i know that if that was the other way round they would be loving it and putting they’re daft posters on our lockers and making the days at graft very tedious. Nah mate, no sympathy whatsoever in fact i hope they struggle in league 1. Sorry but thats the way i feel about them, would love the heed to be beating the unwashed in they’re derbies in the near future.
