Rafa Will Resist £30M Summer Offer For Jamaal Lascelles

The Mirror recently reported that Chelsea will offer £30M to get Newcastle captain Jamaal Lascelles to Chelsea this summer.

But Rafa will turn that offer down because Jamaal is more than just a good player for Newcastle.

Jamaal is a leader on and off the field and is Rafa’s right-hand man as an interface to the players.

Even in training Rafa has given Jamaal permission to make sure all players are giving 100% – all the time.

Manager and captain talk during the game at Stoke City

So you could say that Rafa sees Lascelles as his new Steven Gerrard, but he also praises Lascelles.

At the same time, Chelsea need to replace John Terry with a player who has the exact attributes that Jamaal has.

So it’s not really surprising that Chelsea want Jamaal.

It would take a lot more than £30M to replace Jamaal at Newcastle, and Rafa knows it, and he wouldn’t sell any player before he has a replacement signed.

And we’ve already seen that when Jamaal is not in the side, we are not as organized and seem to be missing something.

It’s good that Jamaal is getting the recognition he deserves for his excellent defending.

But as Chelsea realize there is more to Jamaal than just being a very good player.

And Jamaal has his feet firmly on the ground and will not get carried away by a club like Chelsea trying to sign him.

Rafa wants to bring the good times back to Newcastle, and if only we had an owner who would give him some money to spend, we could do that sooner rather than later.

Jamaal was captain of Newcastle two years ago at the ripe young age of 22 and when you are a leader – age has little to do with that.

Jamaal is a crucial player in Rafa’s ongoing “project” at Newcastle.

What do you think?

Is it deja vu or is this a repeated post from a few weeks back?

Jorgensen’s record is terrible this season.8 goals from 22 makes him joint 3rd top scorer at Feyenoord behind 3 midfielders. Only 3 assists too and he doesn’t win many headers so I’m struggling to figure out what he does. The dutch league is worse than the championship and this guy should be hitting 20 a season minimum playing for Feyenoord.

On Lascelles, i wouldn’t mind seeing how many games we’ve won and how many we conceded etc in the games he played. Lascelles and Dummet are our two solid defenders and we were shocking without them. Hope we never have to go back to Clark and Manquillo

As posted earlier elsewhere, Lascelles is our main man and it won’t be long before England come calling. I only hope we can keep him.

    Why even think of it?

If Rafa is developing a team to compete in the upper reaches of the EPLthen selling an important part of that process is ridiculous .

    Makes no sense at all

If Ashley genuinely wants to sell up, then surely even he must realise that selling the likes of Lascelles will devalue the club and this its eventual sale price.

And, if he insists that we can’t buy because of ongoing take over negotiations, then by the same token, we can’t sell without the agreement of the potential buyer of the club.

A moot point, but as PCP had said that its last offer remained on the table, does that imply that it’s still regarded as the potential buyer? Or, are we back at square one where the due diligence process is made available to any party which expresses an interest – thus dragging the process over the summer during which Ashley’ll again block any spend?

The man is a bloody nightmare who doesn’t give a chit about the club other than it being a saleable asset.

I think that as soon as the £30M offer is made official, Penfold will snap their hands off.

At least Rafa will be offered a few crumbs from the sale, but “we tried, but couldn’t get anyone over the line.”

Does any of this sound familiar?

Ashley is probably a cockney spy sent to keep us from being where we should be.
