Rafa has just given his press conference for the tough game against Arsenal at St. James’ Park on Sunday and he has talked about our two outstanding loan signings – Martin Dubravka and Robert Kenedy.
As Rafa had suggested just two players can make a difference and that’s what the two loan players have done.
They have both been in excellent form for Newcastle and one reason why we have done so well since they joined us in January.
Rafa Benitez – at a previous press conference
This is some of what Rafa has said this afternoon:
“In January when we brought in Dubravka and Kenedy they gave us different things. Everybody was trying even harder.”
“The mentality of this group is quite good.” “We will try to keep players if they are doing well.”
“It is too early – we will look for 40 points then look to the future.”
“Everybody has been training so it is good news. It is helped create competition.”
“When you are used to playing two games a week and have an experienced manager it doesn’t matter much.”
“If we continue winning we won’t make too many changes. I want to play Slimani but it depends on him.”
“He’s trained well but Joselu, Gayle, and Ayoze have too.”
Rafa’s keeping his cards close to his chest as to whether he will start Slimani – but we expect him to.
And our fans are fairly confident we can win this game on Sunday – but Arsenal are very experienced, and it will be tough.
