Southampton 2-0 Up Against Chelsea With 20 Minutes To Play – But Blues Wake Up

As we well know from bitter experience team fighting against relegation have very little luck in games.

And the Saints realize that this afternoon after they were 1-0 up at halftime at home to Chelsea and 2-0 up after 60 minutes in the early fixture.

But then the Blues seemed to wake up, and in only eight minutes from the 70th minute on, Chelsea scored three goals with a brace from former Arsenal striker Olivier Giroud and a goal from Eden Hazard.

Olivier Giroud – scores for Chelsea

That’s what Rafa means when he says the top teams can always score goals and come back into a game.

Southampton now remain the 3rd bottom club with 28 points from 33 games – 10 points behind Newcastle with games starting to run out.

It’s a good result for Newcastle.

Crystal Palace at the time of writing (3:25 pm) are 3-1 up at home to Brighton and Burnley are 2-0 up at home to the Foxes.

When things like this happen it tends to show the writing is on the wall. Not being vindictive when I say it serves them right, I ain’t got no gripe with Southampton, but when you repeatedly sell your best players and fail to replace them, what can you seriously expect?

Isn’t it nice to sit watching the scores without worrying about how it effects our relegation concerns?

Burton beating Derby, I didn’t see that one happening.

Bobby I had 1-0 to Burnley in my super 6. That’s ruined anyway.
Looks like Burton are ruining it for everyone!

Is it just me who wants sunderland to not have relegation confirmed today. Only so that fulham and hopefully mitro can put the final nail in the coffin.

Aye, Ronaldo, Burton ruining my acca too. Got the two draws so far as well which is really annoying. Burton choose today to win their first home game in 18. Typical.
