Alan Shearer Afraid Benitez Could Leave Newcastle This Summer

Alan Shearer has never been confident that Rafa Benitez will stay at Newcastle and he has said in the past that if Rafa walked away from Newcastle, we couldn’t blame him.

While that may be true and he has not been treated well over the last 16 months by owner Mike Ashley – Rafa is becoming emotionally attached to Newcastle and the fans.

We hope Rafa is becoming emotionally attached to Newcastle and the fans.

Ashley has failed to support Rafa in the last three transfer windows, yet we are still 10th in the Premier League and it’s clear Rafa has done a fantastic job on Tyneside.

Alan Shearer – Rafa could walk

As usual, we have no idea what Ashley will do to try to keep Rafa on Tyneside with a new contract.

One thing is clear – we don’t want to hear the owner say he will give every last penny the club has to Rafa – he said that last May and completely failed to follow through.

Here a tweet from Alan Shearer responding to Daily Mail football editor  Ian Ladyman who had tweeted he wouldn’t blame him (Rafa) if he walked this summer because he will not be backed by Ashley.

What do you think about this?

What rumours will come out of this I wonder. Some things are better left unsaid.

I think Rafa will stay even if he ain’t fully backed this summer. He loves a challenge and sees the big picture in this long term project of his. If he is not backed then the club and his ideas will take a bit longer but he is confident enough in his own ability to know he is well capable of achieving it with little help regardless.

We just have to hope that Rafa is given a grest contract to keep him here for very long time. If Pardew got an 8 year contract then Rafa deserves a 20 year contract at least lol

Benitez adds about £50m to £75m to the value of NUFC; if he went and was replaced by the likes of Kinear and Wise then the club would be unsaleable, in trouble in the transfer market and on the pitch.
Other clubs could afford to offer Benitez £10m to £25m to join them.
Ashley is a mad high stakes gambler who could easily ostracise Benitez again in contract renewal negotiations and we could not blame him if he left
