There’s a report in Turkish Football that Newcastle are interested in 24-year-old Trabzonspor midfielder Okay Yokuslu and have sent scouts to watch him play.
Trabzonspor are said to be ready to sell the 11 times capped Turkish international at the end of the season.
There have been reports the player has a release clause in his current contract for only £6.6M, and that would be a bargain buy for Newcastle.
The Hammers are also said to be interested in the player although other clubs will probably be alerted to the release clause – if it indeed exists.
24-year-old Trabzonspor midfielder Okay Yokuslu
Yokuslu stands 6ft 3ins tall and can also play center-back and – as we reported earlier – has been called Turkey’s answer to Barcelona and Spain midfielder Sergio Busquets.
That’s because of his similar style and ability to win the ball back and set up attacks.
This may be one of the players Rafa wants signed quickly by owner Mike Ashley and Managing Director Lee Charnley this summer.
That’s to show they can alter the transfer process and sign players quickly and not have things drag on and on for weeks and sometimes months over petty little things.
The carrot for Ashley is that he wants Rafa to sign a long-term contract to stay on Tyneside.
And yes – that’s probably so he can get a higher price for the club if he does sell in the summer.
