Rafa has refused to rate himself for this season.
But we all know what a great job Rafa has done for Newcastle not only for this season but for last season too; he is the perfect manager to take Newcastle forward and make us into a top team in Europe.
That’s what Rafa wants to do, it’s what the players want to do, and it’s certainly what the fans have wanted to do since we last won a trophy 49 years ago.
We don’t know if it’s what current owner Mike Ashley wants to do.
Maybe Ashley will just sell the club this summer to an ambitious owner like Amanda Staveley, and then everybody will be pulling in the same direction – towards (great) success.
Rafa Benitez – a gift to Newcastle
This is how Rafa responded when asked to rate himself out of 10 for the current season:
“I would not do it.”
“It depends on you. It depends on the target you have, the tools you have to achieve your objectives. Everyone is different.”
“Any owner might say: ‘You have to do this, and I will give you that.’ You can be the best manager in the role if you achieve what he wants to achieve.”
“In this case we are happy with the thing we are doing and there has been two successful years – and we will try to do even better if we can.”
It would be criminal if the Newcastle hierarchy does not accede to everything Rafa wants this summer.
The manager knows what he is doing, and his knowledge of all aspects of football is in-depth, and we won’t even mention his vast experience and standing in the game.
Let Rafa do his job and support him in doing it.
He’s a gift to Newcastle.
