Report – Rafa Has Identified His Priority Signing For The Summer

The Sun is reporting today that Rafa Benitez wants to bring Bournemouth forward Josh King to Newcastle this summer.

King has scored 7 goals this season in 29 appearances, and he started his career at Manchester United and joined Blackburn in 2013 and then Bournemouth two years later.

He was born in Oslo, Norway to a Gambian father and a Norwegian mother and has played 31 times for Norway with 10 goals.

Josh King – 26-year-old Bournemouth forward

We were interested in Josh last summer, but the fee was said to be as much as £30M and Newcastle couldn’t afford that.

But the fee now is said to £20M, and Rafa is keen to bring another mobile forward into the Newcastle side this summer.

The Norwegian has pace and power and is reported to be a priority signing for Rafa this summer.

So we hope that Mike Ashley and Lee Charnley move quickly to put a package together for the player and make an early bid for him this summer for the 26-year-old star forward.

Rafa Benitez will need to see how much he is supported by the current owner this summer before he signs any long-term contract to stay beyond next year on Tyneside.

Signing Josh King quickly will help in that endeavor.

No thanks! Not really sure what Rafa sees in him. No better than what we have already

King or Wilson for that matter are both better and at 26 both younger than what we have, personally I’d prefer king as Wilson is mostly about blistering pace, king has a more all round game

Ha ha thats Calum Wilson Ed!

But yeah I think Rafa will be looking for serious pace and power up top next season King does have that although he has went off the boil this season in terms of goals scored possibly due to defences marking him better or the speculation about moving to Spurs etc

I quite like Wilson although he has had a bad time of injuries so presents a bit of a risk in that department

I think we can do better than King and Wilson. Not bad but not much better than what we have tbh. We need a more consistent striker. These two are very similar to Gayle.

Can’t get excited yet about player signings. Not sure how the media can suggest we have priorities when Rafa himself doesn’t even know if he’ll be signing a new contract. We can’t expect any players to join his ‘project’s when it could be about to die on its arse. Not that I think it will, but this Summer is about priorities and Rafa’s contract is first in line

Wouldn’t be surprised if our next striker doesn’t play pl. We tend to go for the unknown on low wages. I’d like Slimani for 15 million, mourane fellini on free, and Danny Ings, Yussi Poulsen is the Danish Diego Costa.

It’s funny how people on here automatically say no to signing players we may be interested in when Rafa is a true professional.
Rafa knows football better than anyone on here… If Rafa is really keen on a player then why not trust in his decisions. Sometimes the decisions are built on other factors like other players influence etc.
You can all see how professional Rafa is.
We had a very average team this season for a PL team, he brings the very best out of players who might seem to us like there’s no potential. I wish people would stop with all the negativity. This is the greatest football team with the best passionate fans. Can’t we be passionate on here as well as in the stadium?

Personally I’d go for Rondon at West Brom would get double figures in our side easily. Good squad addition

Honestly, why would we give 20 Million for Bournemouth to get someone off there books that’s not really that prolific in front of goal and for them to get someone that is prolific. Makes no sense, B/S paper talk and I honestly don’t know why this posting is on the blog. Sorry Ed but why even put this one on here.
