More Sensible And Positive Comments From This Top Player

Newcastle captain seems to have almost exactly the same attitude as his manager Rafa Benitez, which is one reason why they seem to get along so well.

Jamaal has that same yearning to win every game that the manager has displayed during his long and successful career.

It was a disappointment not to be able to win at Goodison Park on Monday night because Everton are now 4 points above us whereas we could have been 2 points above them.

It was a six-pointer but this time relegation was not part of the equation.

But if we do well in the last four games of the season, we can still finish in the top ten and maybe higher than 10th position.

Jamaal has talked about the defeat at Everton, who have now beaten us five times in a row in the league and have kept clean sheets during that streak:

“I’m always going to be disappointed in the defeat.”

“I don’t like the fact they beat us twice this season. But at the same time, I’m over the moon with how we’ve been this year.”

“Everton have spent a lot of money and we’ve got some real good players in their team.”

“Monday’s game could have gone either way .”

“So the same people who were saying we were just a Championship team will see we’re now looking up to push on and catch the likes of Everton and Leicester.”

“I’m pleased we can say we’re not a Championship team.”

“We have lost but there’s no reason why it should dent our confidence at all,”

“We’re still in a great position and we’re still on the toes of Everton.”

“There’s no reason why we can’t catch them. We just need to make sure we take care of our next game.

“At the start of the season most people would say we should aim to be safe and we’ve done that. It’s step by step.

“Now we look upwards and we’ll see how high we can finish. We’ll set new goals and targets.”

Jamaal had a tough game on Monday night, but it’s good he’s being recognized now after two terrific seasons under Rafa Benitez as the Newcastle skipper.

Chelsea want him in the summer, but we’d be surprised if he wants to get off the Rafa Express train at this early stage.

Jamaal knows there’s a lot better yet to come at Newcastle with Mr. Benitez as the manager.
