Star Player Assures Fans – It Was Just One Of Those Days On Monday

Newcastle went into the tough game at Goodison Park safe on 41 points after four wins in a row, and a win would have taken us 2 points above the Toffees with a game in hand.

But our win streak did not continue, and we lost 1-0 for the 5th time running against the Toffees although it was anybody’s game over those final 20 minutes.

With a little bit of luck, we could have come away with at least a draw, but we didn’t take our chances – once again.

Rafa Benitez with captain Jamaal Lascelles

Jamaal Lascelles, the Newcastle captain, said being on 41 points had nothing to do with the team’s somewhat lackluster performance.

This is what the 24-year-old said in the Chronicle today:

“No, not at all.”

“Yeah, we are safe but all the boys just want us to finish as high as we can.”

“On Monday I thought we put in the same effort and showed the same passion we have been doing in games recently.”

“It was just one of them days.” “They didn’t have many chances and the chance they had went in.”

“Sometimes you’ve just got to give credit to the opposition because they’re a good side.”

We have an excellent chance to get back to our winning ways when we play at home to bottom club West Brom on Saturday.

But that’s not a given that we can win the game, but 3 points would restore the feel-good feeling with the fans.

West Brom have beaten Manchester United and drawn with Liverpool in their last two games to their credit.

🙁

The potential win would also go a long way towards having us finish in the top ten this season, and that would be a terrific finish for the club.

Here’s where we stand at the moment with only four games to play – 12 points to play for.

Diving in his swimming before realising he never paid the water bill is too good for Ashley.

Do any of us really believe that Joe Kinnear said any of those things on the previous page? He may have been nominally director of football, but realistically he did nowt at the club and those words came directly from Keith Bishop. Empty promises designed to keep us all onside while the club bought nobody for two windows and sold Cabaye.

Novocaine for the soul, nothing more, nothing less

    RobLeenio,
Even the LDJ carry on after selling Cabaye, bringing the poor lad in after downing tools for the season, so surprised his brother joined us after that, although 25/40K a week probably goes a long way in decision making.

Lol. That video doesn’t show more than a second after the incident and the referee sees it, another milwall player sees it in front of them and neither react and turn to look straight towards the ball before the video is cut.

Sky saw it and and chose not to say anything about it even with the reputation mitro has.

Nothing really. Doesn’t look good but let’s be honest, if he wanted to elbow him he would have. I’m sure with it being premeditated it could be considered assault. Nothing to see really.

So the elbow is not being investigated? Is it just a case someones opinion. Thought it was being looked into.

    According to the article:

“The FA have actually looked at Mitrovic’s elbow since last week’s game live on Sky, however he’s set to face no punishment (somehow!).”

To be fair, if Mitro scored 11 in 12 for us next season and then got a 3 Match ban, I think I’d happily take that.

    Here is a one….

Will PCP (If still interested) want to go through due diligence again, I know you would think it’s unlikely but I wouldn’t trust Ashley at all.

Cheers, felt a bit crass afterward, I was worried about the reception..

Seriously strong case for Shelvey to be included even before losing a MF, also somebody pointed out on here recently how the devil is Livermore included ahead of him at this point!?

“Will PCP (If still interested) want to go through due diligence again”

if it cost PCP £500K? to go through due diligence the first time for which they got no return they would be once bitten twice shy. however they would have found out all the info they needed first time around and you would think things have changed much in the meantime so maybe due diligence would cost less to do second time around.

I wasn’t sure if they would want another ‘glance’ at the books just to ensure Ash hasn’t ‘loaned’ himself a few million out of the coffee fund…..You know what I mean.

Money and Ashley is always complicated

Catchy if you’re lurking I’d be interested to hear your take on Rafa and the lads now we’re safe

Eeeh, what a pity to think there’s so many doubting Thomases who doubt Ashley’s words.

But why should they. What more can Ashley ssy other than he’ll will fully back Rafa?

‘Fully’ is a matter of interpretation but if Ashley says it, he must mean he’ll give Rafa ‘every last penny’ again.

The greedy grub says owt but his prayers and I can’t see Rafa falling for that again!

i’m sure PCP would do a thorough job of due diligence if they are still interested however i would be very surprised if PCP have any genuine interest.

well taken goal by Josh Kimmich to give Bayern.

I’d followed up your earlier post about the club’s account being later than usual by saying that Companies House allow up to nine months from a company’s financial year end, to fie accounts. Later than that, there’s a fine of a few hundred quid.

But, your point’s valid – why should there be a delay? Slackness? Ashley being awkward? Auditors being awkward?

    We’ll never know

I forgot to tell you all, I got a taxi in Blackpool last week and the driver used to play cricket with Lee Churnley, said he was skinny with loads of hair and was a good craic. He’s been Ashley’d.

lesh, cheers mate – just strikes me as odd that they would be so punctual as to release the accounts on the same day for years running, then when there’s potential for a takeover they’re late.

It’s possible it’s the least interesting post I’ve ever made and I’ve done it twice.
