This Summer Could Be The Best At Newcastle For Many Years

We do expect Mike Ashley to smother Rafa Benitez in compliments this summer after Rafa saved Newcastle from relegation which looked very real when we were third bottom of the league after losing 1-0 to Arsenal in mid-December.

But Rafa has performed his magic again, and Newcastle now look a very decent side, but we definitely lack some class and experience.

But the foundation of the side is there, especially if we sign goalkeeper Martin Dubravka and can persuade that other magician – young Kenedy – to sign for us this summer or come on loan to the club for next season.

Things are looking up, and there are some doubts Rafa could leave, but the Chronicle’s report that Ashley will give Rafa significant money to spend this summer is not a surprise.

The key to Ashley selling Newcastle (maybe eventually for big) money lies with our world-class manager.

Kenedy – sign him up

Apparently, the owner is confident he can sign Rafa up on a new deal at Newcastle.

WE’re sure it will be some celebration when we play Chelsea in the last game on May 13th, and fans plead with Rafa to sign a new deal and stay with us.

A takeover now looks unlikely this summer, but if Ashley can support Rafa, sign him on a new deal and let Rafa do his job it could be an excellent summer for the club and Newcastle fans – maybe even the best ever under Mike Ashley.

Newcastle have to do well in the final four games of the season starting hopefully with a win against bottom club West Brom at home on Saturday, but that will not be easy – we know that.

So things are set for us to have an exciting summer, and Rafa could assemble a powerful squad for next season, and then anything is possible.

It’s exciting times for the club and the fans, and that’s even though Ashley is still the owner.

How Will Newcastle Fare Against West Brom?

Personal Health update:

I had various scans last Friday at Rex Hospital in Raleigh to see if the prostate cancer, which has spread throughout the body, is being contained.

I met with my oncologist yesterday, and there is no indication from the scans and blood work that the cancer has spread further.

The four-month chemotherapy treatment last summer linked with continuous hormone treatment I receive currently contains my cancer.

That’s excellent news and one reason I’m looking forward so much to the summer – more than I can say.

🙂

Of course we’d have expected Ashley to smother Rafa Benitez in compliments this summer after Rafa saved Newcastle from relegation which looked very real when we were third bottom but has he? Have we heard one word of appreciation, acknowledgement of Rafa’s achievement, a big thank you via the media? Have we hell!

The greedy man that Ashley is has upped his asking price for the club, put it out might stay to make even more and not even the grace to thank Rafa and the whole team.

We could really do with Ashley selling up if we are going to get anywhere. Hiring Rafa was a masterstroke at squeezing blood from a stone when Relegation came along again. It wasn’t a statement of ambition from the owner, just financial expediency.

The problem we have is that transfer funds are eaten up by running costs – these would normally be offset hugely by ground advertising, merchandise, catering etc but these inputs are not nufc incomes are they?

P.S. Don’t forget to keep an eye on tomorrow’s match and result between Mitro v. Mackems. Let’s hope that adds to the good news.
Could be interesting the see how many Fulham fans have unexpectedly been struck with Geordie Fever, affecting their accents and vocabulary.

I’m expecting Ashley to remain the owner of the club, him putting the price up just shows him to be a greedy bastard. I still think he will allow a few other potential buyers to pay his 1/2 a million fee for the due diligence as he see this as another way to get money in but can’t see anyone paying 400m for our great club.

Looks like Ashley was right in his assessment in January
that relegation was a remote possibility with Rafa at the helm.

Maybe Amanda should have had a bit more faith in Rafa?

Ashley will sell only if he gets what he sees as top dollar, but
based on the (it seems) limited interest, that doesn’t seem likely.

What worries me, if Ashley really wants out, is that he could take
£100m of TV money and drop his asking price by that amount to
    get a buyer.

Ashley drop his price ? That’s never going to happen.
The only thing he’s going to drop is his keks when he’s either streaking across the pitch or sitting on a pink seat at the other place , purely for “doing his business” transactions.

Classic goof from the Mackems. Manager has lost a player (who is on £70,000 a week) so doesn’t think he can play him in a match.

Try Poundstretcher – he might be in there.

Sunderland manager Chris Coleman says he “doesn’t know” where want-away midfielder Jack Rodwell is.
The already-relegated Black Cats travel to promotion-chasing Fulham in the Championship on Friday, but long-term absentee Rodwell will not feature. “I don’t even know where Jack is, to be honest with you,” Coleman said. “So no, he won’t be involved [at Fulham].”

This summer (stating the obvious) is an absolute watershed moment for us with Rafa holding all of the aces. If Ashley remains then he will know he has to give him his full backing.

On Abel Hernandez he is a much better goal scorer than Joselu is and pretty much does the same kind of job as Mitro and Slimani but slightly cheaper and also a little bit faster ….

On a free transfer he would add competition and depth it may be the plan is to add Hernandez cheaply then sell Mitrovic and use his money for other players ?

I imagine if Rafa is staying he wont have an unlimited budget so there will still be a bit of shuffling the pack to get a bit of a squad on the go

In the space of about 5 months we have gone from a club well overpriced at £350Mill to well worth £400Mill job lot, Rafa has laid good foundations and has exposed the big potential available through wise investment from would be new ambitious owners. IMO Rafa has improved the performance of the squad so much that 3 or 4 quality signings could have us competing for top 6 or higher next season I think we are now able to attract quality players to the club under new ownership. The squad has improved so much that I would keep most of what we have, Perez/Mo Diame to name two I would stick with Gayle, he will come good with confidence like Perez and Diame, Murphy was looking good too, We now have a good keeper and if we can land Kenedy it will be icing on the cake. If Ashley stays everything gets ripped up and it’s back to square one.
