Benitez Details What He Wants From The Team In Final Four Games

Rafa Benitez is a perfectionist, and it was apparent after reaching 41 points that he wanted to press on and finish as high up the league as possible.

We are in a decent position now to finish in 10th place and even higher, but the loss to Everton on Monday night was a blow to finishing potentially in 8th place.

But you never know, and a few wins in our remaining could see us higher than 10th place.

Rafa wants consistency and organization and wants the team to remain compact over the last four games of the season.

Rafa Benitez – seems even upbeat about future?

This is what he said today:

“We have been able to change players because we are safe, and we maybe will change someone, but maybe not.”

“I want consistency too. I have told the players they will play, so I want to give a chance to people but I must wait for the right time and find the balance”

“We have to remain compact, be organized, then some games we have won because we take our chances.”

“We have been one of the best 10 teams for shots, but also the best 10 for defending. We have had good balance and we need to keep that”

“People were expecting we could beat Everton easily because we have done well, but you have to look at the money they have spent.”

“But we have to keep working on and off the pitch going forward”

To get the feel-good factor back, we need to beat West Brom at St. James’ Park tomorrow to get our 5th home win on the trot.

Then we will be well positioned to go into our final three games of the season at Watford and Tottenham, and then at home to Chelsea.

I love my club and it is on the ‘up’ at the minute but I can’t see someone paying £400 million for it.

I am unsure which club we can compare to but if this is the price ash wants I think we he will be owning us for a while.

Heaven forbid Rafa walks….i think we would be very likely relegated next season if that were the case.

Rafa appears to be a rarity at the minute, a very good manager prepared to manage our club.

Rafa v McLaren, Kinnear, Pards, Carver……

Anyway it’s been a long week at work, weekend nearly here and I am ready for it.

    Enjoy

Well, an interesting press call, no doubt. Two things jump out – first, the club and Rafa are talking, not just about Rafa’s future “but everything else too”, which is great news. Second, “the ambitions of the club are the ambitions of the fans” implying that the club (not just Rafa) wants to push on from here.

Time will tell, but I think these phrases are potentially very illuminating.

Ashley quite categorically stated that he is going nowhere until we win saminck. I can’t imagine that included the championship so he’ll have to shape up next season and spend sam dough mate innit.

But if the TV and prize money are to stay in the club, then £400m’s surely the equivalent of the £300m Ashley said he’d accept? We know that Ashley won’t miss a trick so maybe that’s wishful thinking on my part

They’re Rafa’s words you’re quoting and it could be that he’s telling the club that its ambitions must match his and the fans’. No or low club ambitions means no deal and he’s off.

Rafa’s got to be the most important manager to a club since Fergie at Man Utd ! If he is allowed to leave it will be devastating for the club, the city and the fans!
