Jonny Evans has a release clause in his contract for £3M if West Brom are relegated and if they cannot beat Newcastle tomorrow at St. James’ Park they will definitely go down.
It is already almost 100% certain they will go down this season after finishing in a reasonable 10th place on 45 points last season.
They fired their manager Tony Pulis on 20th November and have slumped even more since then with Alan Pardew taking over before he too, was sacked earlier this month.
The Mirror is reporting that Newcastle, Crystal Palace, Leicester, and Everton are interested in the player.
Jonny Evans – in action against Bournemouth
We’ll be able to have a look at the 30-year-old former Manchester United center-back tomorrow afternoon.
Evans has massive experience in the Premier League having played around 250 times in England’s top league.
And the player is a bargain buy at only £3M if Rafa thinks he can do a job for the team.
He would certainly add even more competition for the two places in central defense.
Although Jonny Evans blotted his copybook earlier this year when he was one of the players who allegedly stole a taxi in Spain from a McDonald’s drive-through and left it at their hotel in February.
The case was dropped through a lack of evidence.
Evans played at Sunderland over ten years ago as he was developing as a player and he played 198 times for the Red Devils with 7 goals.
