Newcastle Dream Probably Over For This Player

Islam Slimani started the game at Everton last Monday night but was replaced yesterday in the starting line-up by Dwight Gayle.

That wasn’t a good sign that Rafa will want to buy the 29 year-old Algerian for £21M this summer and Slimani now also faces a three-match ban.

Substitute Slimani was part of an incident very late in the game with West Bromwich center-back Craig Dawson, and it’s likely on review he will be given a three-match ban, and there are only three games left this season.

Islam Slimani – likely to get a three-match ban

Slimani lost his cool and lashed out to kick the legs of Craig Dawson and that incident seemed to be missed by the match officials.

It’s almost certain that on video review Slimani will be accused of dangerous play and get a three-match ban.

There seems little chance after an injury-interrupted time at Newcastle when he made one start, and three sub appearances that he has done anywhere near enough to have Rafa bring him in permanently this summer.

Slimani did give us something different up front, but he seems to have lost his chance.

While we expect Rafa to bring in two strikers this summer, we’d be shocked if Islam Slimani is one of them.

And since our only home match remaining is against Chelsea in two weeks time our young Brazilian Kenedy is not eligible to play in that game.

Yesterday could be the last time fans see Kenedy in a black and white shirt at St. James’ Park.

But we hope not – he’s a lovely lad and a great player in the making.

I think Rafa has more brains (unlike some)
than to consign a player to the rubbish bin
(trash can for our N American cousins) after
    one duff game.

Reading through the comments from yesterday, quite a few bloggers didn’t watch the game, so it will be hard for them to judge.

I’m assuming they’ll vote for their favourite player. For the record, the flip flops theory isn’t too true, I feel. They all put in a shift, it’s just that we aren’t good enough to break down a team that sits back and waits for its chance… Much like the way we got our wins this year.

    A couple points.

Shelvey had an off game and it showed on the field and in the result. He’s a key player. Was Merino not available? Should’ve been put in at half time.

Slimani worth 29 mil? Haven’t seen enough, but yesterday he was poor.

Kenedy may have been the player to unlock the game. When he was moved to left back, some of the fire up front was lost. He does offer something different. If ten million offered, accept. Not my MOM because really he should’ve passed to Gayle for a 99% goal.

So, no MOM. Perhaps their goal scorer ? The ref, good first game.

On the kicking incident, hope the FA let it go. Dawson kicked out first, then made a meal of a tiny kick out by Slimani.

    Really, no big deal.

Shelvey was shocking against Everton and again yesterday although it is clear he needs better movement in front of him.

I still think Richie at no10 with Perez up top is our best attack. I was at the game against Everton and in the warm up they did an exercise of outside of the box shooting. Perez, Gayle, Kennedy, Richie, Shelvey and possibly Diame. Richie hit about 5 of 6 into the top corner while most others scored 1-2 at best. Perez didn’t even hit the target from what I remember and dragged them wide or over.

If that was mitro who kicked out at Dawson, Rafa would never play him again. Slimani should be treated the same

Slimani, is done at our club. There are several things from the game yesterday that makes this guy not worth the loan or purchasing. It does not mater if Dawson done what ever he done first, all pro’s know that the F.A will still give out punishments if the ref misses something, if he just would gave gone down instead of kicking out then fine. If Rafa does not like mitro’s reactions to things then Slimani is done, he should if the F.A are on there game get banned for the next three games and that’s that. But also from the game he spent a lot of time having ago at other players when he mislaid passed, that’s not how a team should work, sorry not worth it to me and I would prefer we look at someone else and give Mitro another chance. As for Josey, that fish is fried, battered and thrown out for the cat.

The biggest problem all this seaon has been the lack of an accomplished goal scorer.
Sadly it seems that Slimani is not the answer to that problem.
Joselu is not the answer either.
Mitro is out of favour and Gayle doesn’t seem to be able to hack it at Premier level and that leaves…..
Perez but Perez is perhaps the only one from those “Strikers” that I’d keep as although he can be frustrating he’s the only one to show a touch of flair so I do think he is worth persevering with!
Newcastle are crying out for a young strong fit “Charlie Austin” type of player.
Let’s hope Rafa can find a couple of decent strikers!
