Report – Newcastle After 21-Year-Old €20M Playmaker – Wants A Move To Premier League

There’s news today coming from Russia that Newcastle are interested in signing 21-year-old Russian International central midfielder Alexander Golovin this summer.

Golovin is one of the best playmakers in Russian football and he joined CSKA Moscow in 2012 and has worked his way through the Youth Academy into the first team.

He’s played for all the Russian Youth sides and made his full International debut in June 2015 in a friendly game against Belarus at the Arena Khimki and has since played 17 times with a couple of goals.

His agent, Alexander Manyakov, has told the Russian media that Newcastle are interested in signing the player.

Alexander Manyakov has said this to Sports.Ru:

“Alexander Golovin needs to leave CSKA Moscow this summer.”

“As far as I know, there are offers from Premier League clubs but not from the top six.”

“I know that Southampton and Newcastle are showing an interest but he has a contract with CSKA.”

The Saints will remain interested only if they stay a Premier League club this summer – which is still possible.

The 21-year-old is rated at 20M according to his agent – that’s £17.6M with today’s exchange rate of 0.88.

Golovin has been playing well for his club with 41 total appearances this season in all competitions with 6 goals and 5 assists.

In total, he has played 111 times for CSKA Moscow with 12 goals and 10 assists.

He stands 5ft 11ins tall and Rafa is keen to bring in at least one new central midfielder into Newcastle this summer.

This seems a case of his agent trying to sell the player this summer – but since he’s said Golovin wants to join a Premier League club we have to be in with a decent chance – always assuming Rafa wants him.

Arsenal were said to be tracking this player late last year, and other top clubs like Barcelona are also said to be interested.

What do you think?

gotta be agent talk…Russian players rarely settle all that well outside of Russia so i’d be cautious.
If we’re scouting that way, Bernard at shakhtar is out of contract…

Does anyone know at what stage of last summer Rafa realised he was being taken for a ride? If he realised it late, why did he not get budget figures agreed in writing or in his contract? If he realised it early, why did he shell out 12mill on Murphy? I presume he was hoodwinked mid summer (Swansea striker time) but I’m surprised he wasn’t more public if Ashley broke a written agreement as opposed to a general vague agreement. If this is the case I assume his solicitors will get a budget framed in stone this time. Rafa’s problem is that he loves the idea of being at the forefront of an adoring passionate public (Liverpool napoli nufc) but very few clubs like that are available in england. Meanwhile he has to live with an owner who just wants regular and predictable safety every year

I still think Ashley will give him a decent budget this summer. He won’t mind nufc in top 10 if sky are funding most of the purchases and it doesn’t endanger the club financially. So my hopeful guess is 40 Mill plus sales. Mind u I said 50mill last week 🙁

    Munster

I think it was sometime after signing Murphy. Murphy was bought think there was much more money left. I think Ashley thought a sale was definitely going to go through and stopped the spending.

Rafa had told Ashley what his plans were when he agreed to stay, Ashley agreed with him but then pull the rug out when he thought he had a sale.

Rafa needs to see funds in an account weather the club is sold or not!!
