The FA as expected charged Islam Slimani with violent conduct yesterday after he kicked out at West Brom defender Craig Dawson late in the home game on Saturday.
Slimani now has until 6pm today to respond to the charge.
And it’s likely he will not contest it and that will mean he has played his last game for Newcastle with only one start in 4 appearances since he arrived injured on January 31st.
Slimani didn’t play until he had been on board two months on Tyneside.
It has not been a happy time for Slimani and the player will be hugely disappointed with what has happened on Tyneside.
Islam Slimani – played his last game for Newcastle
This is what was put on the FA website yesterday:
Newcastle United’s Islam Slimani has been charged with violent conduct following an incident during the game against West Bromwich Albion on Saturday [28 April 2018].
It happened in the 80th minute and was not seen by the match officials but caught on video.
He has until 6pm on 1 May 2018 to respond to the charge.
Off the ball incidents which are not seen at the time are referred by The FA to a panel of three former elite match officials.
Each panel member will review the video footage independently of one another to determine whether they consider it a sending-off offense.
For retrospective action to be taken, and an FA charge to follow, the decision of the panel must be unanimous.
While it’s been a bit of a disaster for Slimani at Newcastle our other two loan players – Martin Dubravka and Robert Kenedy have been in excellent form for us.
Rafa Benitez would like to sign both permanently in the summer and he has an option to buy goalkeeper Dubravka for €4M, and he is almost certain to bring Dubravka to the club permanently.
That will be an excellent deal for Newcastle.
He would like to do the same with Kennedy, but it’s unlikely Chelsea will want to sell him, but there may be a chance to get the 22-year-old on loan next season.
Both players have helped us significantly in our surge to safety this year and the number one goal of the season – to stay in the Premier League has been achieved.
Now we have a decent chance to finish in the top ten if we can do well in our final three games.
We are at Watford on Saturday and they remain 3 points behind us after losing 2-0 against Tottenham last night and they have only two games to play.

Comment #3I’d love to see Andy Carroll back here but he is injured more than he plays and I think his next deal will be a pay as you play contract.
Jesper,
What outburst, you suggested in one sentence we are not a charity club and in the other said we should offer people volunteer work. You can’t have it both ways, you obviously realise that now and that’s why you are being smarmy in your posts on the matter.

Comment #4Mo Salah gets off scott free, hypocrisy and double stndards again……..The FA need investigating , too many of the so called “bigger teams “ get away with so much.
I wonder if Scumberland get hit with penalties for over spending after Ellis Short effectively gifted them 60m-100m depending which report you read , i think a 30 point deduction when they start life in league 1 should do it , either that or cut out the next step and relegate them to league 2 straight away ….. yeah that sounds good

They say never go back! Look no further than Rooney, and another saying is looking back in hindsight, If Mo Diame and Perez were moved on in the summer window at the beginning of this season,I don’t think most people would have been bothered, including me but now, they two of the first names on the team sheet, so why can’t it happen with Gayle, we know he has goals in him, be it in the Championship, I think a couple of goals will do his confidence no end of good and turn him into the finished product , a quality striker. We need to persevere with Gayle like we did with Diame and Perez.

Perhaps a combination of Gayle & Carroll would work – Slimani hasn’t been the answer but then again perhaps Rafa the Gaffa has someone else in his sights? One thing is for sure we need someone who can put the ball in the back of the net on a regular basis! 🙂
