Fans Forum – Newcastle Still Up For Sale – But Don’t Hold Your Breath

There’s not too much to be gleaned from the minutes of the latest Fans Forum meeting which took place on Wednesday, April 25th.

The main thing fans are interested in is to get Rafa signed up to a long-term contract and also to give him some significant transfer funds to spend this summer – presumably as part of an overall deal.

But there was very little forthcoming from the club about these things and they didn’t really say anything that we didn’t already know.

Mike Ashley – looks like he will stay as owner for the foreseeable future

Here are some of the comments from the minutes starting with whether the club is still up for sale:

“The position has not changed”. “If or when there is anything to update, the club would do so.”

“The manager has a year remaining on his contract.” “As the manager has publicly stated, discussions to extend his contract are ongoing.”

“The club stressed that its conversations with the manager are ongoing and include discussions around the transfer pot available.”

“The club explained that the recruitment process is year-round and doesn’t stop.”

“The manager and recruitment team are talking about targets for this window and have been for some time.”

So not much new there other than the club is still up for sale – with the price probably close now to £400M.

But what seems evident is that Mike Ashley will be the owner of the club for the foreseeable future.

And no reference is made in the minutes to Ms. Amanda Staveley and her PCP Capital Partners group, who bid for Newcastle late last year.

It doesn’t appear that any group is currently interested in buying Newcastle United at the moment – although that can change very quickly.

Let’s hope Mike Ashley can get Rafa to sign a long-term deal so at least we tie down our world-class manager to stay at the helm for years to come.

That’s our immediate concern.

Comments welcome.

Falling asleep in the midday sun with an SPF 50 phallic symbol on his forehead is too good for Ashley

Not liking the mentions of “the manager” rather than “Rafa or Mr Benitez” , also , their sums don’t add up, we sold 80m of players when we went down and replaced them with £50m of cheaper options on lower wages for our push back up, we’ve loaned players out to get them off e wage bill …….sounds like snake oil and smoke and mirrors ,it’s also strange that the new sponsorship deals seem to have gone missing from incoming amounts counting towards player recruitment.
If I was Rafa, I would be outa here faster than a mackem eats cheesy chips, I hope I’m wrong but it don’t look good , were being braced for another loan window, plenty of outgoings and only loans and freebies coming in…..if Gayle is worth £15m and Mitro is worth £20, we could get £35.5m for our strikers ,factor in the money were still being paid for Sissoko. And Sels out for £6m and we could have around £50m from player sales ……if Cashley matches it, we could get a couple of decent strikers and a no10 ,

The smoke & mirror show continues topped with a load of b.s. Ashley has lied & bamboozled everyone for another year with stories of I want it sold by Christmas etc & got his hands on a 100 million t.v. money windfall. Anything that has been up for sale for 10 years is not for sale
