New Exciting Target Reveals What Rafa Wants This Summer

The Mirror are reporting that Rafa Benitez is interested in bringing speed merchant Adama Traore of Middlesbrough to Newcastle this summer.

Traore was a Newcastle target last summer after Middlesbrough had been relegated, but nothing came of it.

The Spanish U21 International has lots of speed and skill and would fit well into Newcastle’s counter-attacking policy under Rafa Benitez.

And it seems Rafa will bring is some players with speed this summer.

Traore is a talented player, and under Rafa’s guidance, there is every chance he could fulfill what is massive potential; he’s still only 22 years old.

Adama Traore – speedy and talented Spanish winger

He would be an exciting signing for Newcastle with Rafa likely to be able to get the most out of his speed and skills at Newcastle.

Middlesbrough have made the playoffs in the Championship under Tony Pulis, but if they don’t get promoted it would seem that Newcastle have a decent chance of signing the player.

Traore is a bit like Kenedy in that there is no question of his skill it’s just bringing it out of him on a regular basis which Rafa was able to do quite brilliantly with Robert Kenedy.

Chelsea are also after the Spanish winger and are said to be in the driver’s seat – but with Rafa also being Spanish we must have a chance.

And the young player would get a lot more games at Newcastle next season than at Chelsea who have lots of top-class players in their first team squad – just ask Robert Kenedy about that.

Traore played 38 times with 5 goals and 12 assists for Middlesbrough this season.

He would be a good signing for Newcastle at a decent transfer fee.

We need pace , power and physicality up front ! The games we have struggled this season have been against teams with strong centre halfs who have just bullied Gayle and Perez out of it

Traore(or another speed merchant) and Kennedy on the wings would be great to watch but we need a physical presence up top to compliment them

You and Rafa are singing from the same hymn sheet

Rafa interviewed by Northern Echo’s Scott Wilso

“If you want to bring in a striker with a guarantee of more than
ten or 15 goals a season, then you have to pay money for him, for sure
    – More than £16m?
    In this market, yes.
I like to coach and improve players, and sometimes that means the owners
do not have to spend too much. I have always been concerned about taking
    care of the numbers.
In England, I have been learning to work with a business plan.
You have to have a realistic business plan, and then if you know that,
you have to work on that.
Does that mean you have to break the record?
If it is necessary, you can do it.
If it is not necessary, you still have to be sure you have the funds to compete.”

Remember seeing this kid play, he is fast, has the skill and is hard to knock of the ball. My thinking though is Rafa maybe playing both manager and agent here. If Chelsea are after this kid and then Newcastle jump in then its possible Chelsea would tell Rafa, if we sign this player you can have Kenedy, now of course if Chelsea don’t lets us sign kenedy then Rafa can tell the player, why go to Chelsea to sit on the bench, they have kenedy. Clever is Rafa, I know he is playing the field here.
