Rafa Needs Help – Identifies Major Transfer Target For The Summer

Newcastle could have won this game last night at Wembley if only we could have taken some of the chances we created.

Jonjo Shelvey had an excellent game and hit the post.

But poor Dwight Gayle missed two golden opportunities to score, and we will probably see the striker leave the club this summer for a top Championship club.

We need a top striker brought in, and Mike Ashley needs to support Rafa with significant funds in doing that.

And yes – the fee will break our measly record of around £17M we paid Real Madrid for Michael Owen 13 long years ago.

That was before there were iPhones and Twitter.

Rafa Benitez – wondering why the Gods were against us last night

We probably need a couple of good strikers brought on.

This is how Benitez responded when asked if we need a top striker brought in this summer:

“Yes,” “We know that we need to keep the same team spirit, the same mentality, the same commitment from all these players.”

“And add a little bit more quality to help and be sure that in these kinds of games you take your chances and win the games.”

“We had some good chances and especially we created enough situations to have even more chances with the final pass in the final third,”

“But that is the reason why the Premier League is so difficult. They have maybe one good chance and score a goal.”

The good news is if we can get a couple of good strikers in this team we will win a lot more games next season.

The rest of the side has become reasonably robust and will have a lot more experience next season.

And as we showed last night against a top side, we do create a lot of chances.

What makes the tenth place so surprising
is last night was the third time we’ve lost
4 games in a row this season.

Apparently Dwight Gayle to Stoke for £10m
is pretty much a done deal.

The elusive striker we need will need to be athletic and mobile and not just a target man. In fact we will need two of them as with Gayle,Joselu and Mitro probably all moved on we have no effective strike force. Plus another no.10 makes three signings up front just for starters.
Add say Craig Dawson at the back plus another keeper that’s five, pacey midfield/winger makes six and if you include securing Kennedy and Dubrovka that makes eight. Possibly another CB as I’m not sure what Clark’s future is and you’ve got nine. No doubt others will say we need cover elsewhere as well.
That’s quite a shopping list but to perform at the level required and to be competing in the top ten of the Premiership all season long then it’s the minimum and Rafa knows this but are Charnley and Ashley capable of understanding this as well ?

No more hanging around the bottom half of the table please at any point in the next season, just ensure that SJP is the fortress once again and that in away games we get the draws and wins needed for a great season with consistency and to do that a strong squad is vital.

According to Chris Waugh signing Kenedy and big Marty
plus 4 more should be enough.

The best signing we could hope for this summer is Fat Mike’s on the sale papers.

I’m sure the rumour mill will be awash with that and the 2501 strikers we will be linked with real soon

Lochinvar that’s not going to happen. I think if Rafa gets 3 players in addition to dupravka and kenedy he will be happy. I hope he gets a holiday in Spain this summer! Needs it.
