Press Conference – Rafa Talks About His Future – Pre-Season Already Arranged

Rafa Benitez has just given his press conference for the very last game of what has been a successful season for Newcastle, and we were safe from relegation with five games still to play.

Given the inexperienced and young squad we had, that has to be a success in any language.

Rafa was again asked about his future today, but it seems like the two parties are still talking.

Rafa Benitez – at a previous press conference

Here are the first of Rafa’s comments coming through for our game against Chelsea on Sunday –  as reported in the Chronicle:

“We have pre-season organized, we will go away to Ireland and then be ready. I will have more talks with the club.”

“My job is to be sure that the players are focused for Chelsea, then my people have to talk with Lee Charnley to try and progress.”

“We cannot give too much details on talks. We are still talking but no news yet.”

“We have to wait, keep talking and I prepare my team for Chelsea.”

“It has a been great season. At the beginning the target was to stay up, I can see a lot of managers saying great season because they are safe.”

“We did it 5 games ago. The unity, work rate and togetherness has been important.”

Rafa has done another excellent job for us this season whatever the result is against Chelsea on Sunday.

If only the owner would realize that and get this man signed up – it would be a big relief for the fans.

Very good question – was it a good season.

Well if you take into account the priority which was to stay in the PL – yes it is a good season.

In terms of quality football perhaps not – but that was probably expected. The hoorahs for finishing mid table to me are somewhat muted due to a pack of teams from us in 10th to seventeenth place with only a difference of 5 points between them.

But overall Rafas plan for our return has been achieved. What happens next is the big question.

I wonder how much further on the talks would be if Churnley didn’t have to text, e mail or What’s app Mikey. A simple question that has to wait until Mikey has finished throwing up in to fireplaces before he can answer.
