Newcastle United have been interested in Galatasaray winger Garry Rodrigues since late last year, and reports are coming out of Turkey (outlet Milliyet) that Rafa is willing to offer £20M for the player and wants the deal done quickly.
That fee is said to be double what West Ham are willing to offer for the player.
Newcastle are said to have bid £6M for the player in January, so it seems strange if the offer has suddenly gone up to £20M.
Rodrigues has had an excellent season for Galatasaray and news in January was that he was keen to join Newcastle this summer.
Garry Rodrigues – 27-year-old Galatasaray winger
We know Rafa wants to get players in very early this summer so it would not be a surprise if the manager was directly involved in trying to get the deal tied up quickly.
In 39 total appearances for Galatasaray this season he’s scored 10 goals and has 11 assists.
Newcastle finishing in the top half of the table should help us to bring in our priority targets this summer, and Rafa wants to get his top targets this time.
Last summer Rafa wasn’t given much money by owner Mike Ashley and had to go down his list of targets.
But it has to be different this time around, and Rafa wants some class brought into his squad for next season.
Garry has been at Galatasaray for only 18 months, and he cost only £3M from PAOK.
His contract still has three years to run with the Turkish powerhouse.
