Whether Rafa Signs This Striker Will Depend On His Transfer Budget

It has to be tempting for Rafa Benitez to try to sign 27-year-old free agent Abel Hernandez from Hull City the summer.

He’s not to be confused with 29-year-old Mexican striker Javier Hernandez who is available from West Ham this summer.

Abel is a decent enough striker, and maybe under the guidance of the Newcastle manager, he can become a good striker in the Premier League.

Newcastle were first linked with Hernandez back in 2014 when he was still at Palermo and at that time he said he would love to sign for Newcastle.

Rafa does not know what transfer funds he will get from Mike Ashley this summer.

27-year-old Hull free agent Abel Hernandez

But he’s likely to allow strikers like Aleksandar Mitrovic and Dwight Gayle and possibly Joselu leave the club this summer and bring in some new strikers.

Abel Hernandez could be one of those, and he may be a good bargain buy as a free agent.

The big question on Hernandez is whether he ‘s good enough for Newcastle so it may depend on how much money Rafa gets from Ashley in the summer.

If Rafa’s transfer funds are again restricted then signing Hernandez could be a sensible move.

In the four seasons he’s been at Hull he’s appeared for them 110 times with 39 goals and 10 assists;  two of those seasons have been in the Championship.

Rafa has been linked again with a loan move for Chelsea’s Tammy Abraham, and he would be a good signing for us since the Englishman has lots of class.

And Rafa could go after Feyenoord striker Nicolai Jorgensen this summer and pay close to £20M for the Danish striker – something Ashley refused to do in January.

Celtic, Wolves and Nottingham Forest are said to be keen on the 27-year-old, who has who 27 caps for Uruguay with 11 goals.

Abel returned from injury late in the season and scored 8 goals in just 10 appearances for Hull

What do you think?

Hmm on a free I think I would prefer him to Tammy Abraham that hasn’t impressed much at Swansea.

Really want this transfer budget sorted ASAP if it drags on we’re in the brown stuff again. We need to seriously improve on the squad quickly with forwards being essential as we all know.

Sounds to me like another transfer window of loan and free transfer signings. Wow – isn’t that exciting?

Can’t see him being in rafas top ten wants list…. think Tammy is a good move though, still u21 so doesn’t cost a 25 man squad place, does cost one of two prem loans though, but would be a easy option to be backup striker, he’ll want game time though…

25 man squad should be at least 3 keepers 8 defenders 4 midfielders 4 wingers 2 strikers 2 a mids. And two utility players.
We have 4 senior keepers, if dubs signs.
We have 4 central defenders. We have manq and yed for rightback and lazar n dummet at lb. 4 mids Hayden diame shelvey merino. 4 wingers atsu Ritchie arrons and Murphy. At Striker we have Joselu/ Gayle /mitro and at no10 we only have Perez. The only current squad place to fill is a cover for Perez. Unless some more are shipped out!

With Ashley currently on holiday don’t expect any movement on transfers or even news on how much is available anytime soon

Actually it turns out Armstrong is now 21 so he now counts as another senior player returning,

We have at least 27 senior players… wage bill will have to be reduced and that will mean a firesale to get rid.

With modern technology, Skype/video chat etc. It should make no difference whatsoever, that Ashley’s gone on Holiday again, just as the window is about to open, but you just know that everyone around him will use it to make excuses and cause delays, it makes my blood boil what a great team we have have from manager downwards and a bunch of useless pricks from management upwards, the biggest prick being Holiday boy!!!

Having endured a stressful season, Ashley’s supposedly taken a well-earned break and gone on holiday.

Just like last January’s window, there’s nothing of any real importance for him to deal with – apart from Rafa’s contract negotiations and the opening of the summer window.

Let’s hope nothing important crops up that needs his urgent attention in the next few weeks!

    West Ham joint-chairman David Sullivan:-

“We feel that it is right to move in a different direction. We aim to appoint a high-calibre figure who we feel will lead the club into an exciting future for our loyal supporters within the next 10 days.”

I wonder who that could be…..

Rafa – “My priority is to stay in England. I’m only talking to Newcastle right now.”

suppose things could have changed since then

I think Sullivan may have to eat his words. Let’s see who it is but I have some sympathy for Moyes but none for Allardyce.

Moyes to Chelsea. Allardyce to Arsenal. Steve McClaren to West Ham. Pardew to Everton.

Makes as much sense as some suggestions.

Rafa isn’t going to West Ham

Rafa will not be going to West Ham. It’s a poisoned chalice and he is not stupid. Demanding and unreasonable fans – some of whom are just idiots – and a completely incompetent executive team…..all mixed into a stadium with no atmosphere.

Fifa must have allowed us to sign Dubravka ahead of the window opening tomorrow.

Rafa must have been on the phone to them to get special dispensation.

Funny though no news outlets are reporting that Dubravka has signed. Must be a coup for Jibs news service.

Dubs effectively signed for us in Jan
Loan with an option to buy which we have invoked
In these circumstances the window is just for registration
    purposes.

What this will do is increase the strength of Rafa’s hand, particularly if West Ham approach the club for permission to speak with him. Marco Silva will fill the Everton slot, I think, unless he’s been appointed elsewhere since leaving Watford.

It is not a coincidence Ashley has chosen to go on holiday during transfer window times.
