Benitez Interested In Signing This Top Premier League Defender

Newcastle United manager Rafa Benitez is keen to increase the competition for places at Newcastle next season.

And  Rafa could sign a center-back, full-back, and goalkeeper to shore up the defense.

It looks like we will be bringing in goalkeeper Martin Dubravka permanently – and the deal could even be done this week, with the transfer window opening today.

Rafa has been linked with a move for 24-year-old Swansea City center-back Alfie Mawson.

Alfie Mawson – Rafa interested

With Swansea surprisingly relegated this season some of their top stars will want to leave the south Wales club this summer.

The Mail is reporting there are several Premier League clubs already interested in signing Mawson who had a very good season for the Swans after signing for them from Burnley in the summer of 2016.

In the two years he’s been in Wales he’s played 71 times for the Swans with 7 goals.

Swansea seem willing to sell the defender but the question will e3 what fee they put on the Englishman’s head.

It appears Swansea want as much as £20M for Mawson and that may scare away some clubs – maybe Newcast6el included?

Mawson is already a good player who can become even better under Rafa Benitez’ guidance.

Rafa wants real talent coming into the club this summer, and if Mawson does join us, he will offer real competition at center-back.

He would be a very good signing for us.

What do you think?

    20 million though? Crazy!

He did look quality though him and Lascalles together could be great with Lejuene as a sweeper in a back 3…

We have had such an up and down season, our form only improved imo when Rafa stopped changing virtually half the team every game, he started playing a settled team and players confidence grew, Shelvey was world class many times and Diame was a different player altogether from the one that played every other game, Lascalles at the back was a tower of strength, our goalie was terrific, and if we had better forwards we could have been touching Europe, but in essence it was the stability of a team that played together for the last ten games that got us through, we certainly did not have the quality in the squad to chop and change every week with Rafas bingo. sorry n all that i know ive mentioned it before but this is the crux for me.

Ooh! The Master Jedi Southgate is talking on the radio. (Quick hand movement – you do not want Shelvey on the squad).
Bragging about what a great squad the FA picked (sorry, HE picked). Perfectly balanced with lots of creativity. (I must’ve missed that bit).
Wonder if his nose is that big because he lies so much, or just because someone heard enough and chinned him?
Even as I listen, my confidence builds relentlessly. (Now my nose grows). Clueless. Bottlelesszzzzzzzzz.

Mawson would be to replace Clark then unless Rafa decides to play a different formation. Lascalles and Lejeune are the best pairing but having three strong centre backs is perhaps a necessity for moving into the top six and dealing with Cup runs.

More importantly quality and ambitious players will sign with the assurances that Rafa is here for the long run and that the club has ambitious plans. Dubrovka signing in the next 24 hours should be reassuring proof that this is the case.

Announcing that Torres is joining Rafa and NUFC for another season in the Premier League after collecting the Europa Cup with Athletico would be another clear signal that the Rafalution is gaining strength.

So it wasn’t that he might get sent off or anything like that, seems it’s his ‘personality’ wouldn’t fit. Anything to do with alleged racist comments? The ones none of their witnesses could even agree on? Stinks of the FA telling him who he can and can’t pick – is that not why Capello left the job?
Was it Cappello who said he left because he couldn’t have the FA telling him who he could and couldn’t pick? Think it was him.
He claims he picked players on form and that, frankly, is BS. Utter nonsense.
Stones? Cahill? Lallana on standby? Yeah, all regulars this season Gareth. God help us.

If we could get Mawson I would love him, we need strength in numbers in defence, midfield and attack if we intend to compete with the top 6, let’s hope we can do a Leicester, coming back to earth, he may be too pricey for the F@T TW@T

Well, what’s done is done. He won’t change his mind and as long as he’s there Shelvey will never play for England again. Nothing to do with talent and ability, he was accused of racism and the FA bottled it. In a court of law that would have been kicked out, but they were frightened of being seen as soft on racism and decided to find him guilty.
You can’t say you’ve picked on form and leave Shelvey out.
His plan is to attack down the flanks, which is fine to an extent, but what if it doesn’t work? Where’s plan B? There simply isn’t one.
If I was an opposing manager I’d already be working on how to snuff that out. Stop the flanks and you stop England. Wow. Great plan Gareth. 🙂

So, according to Talksport reporter ‘the mousse’ West Ham is a much bigger club than Newcastle. Worth noting he’s a West Ham fan though.
For those who don’t know, The Mousse is a fat knacka who thinks West Ham are the best club in the world. He squeals and giggles like a little girl and is even classed as a joke by his colleagues. He truly is a clown.

It gets better. Every London club is bigger than clubs from elsewhere in the country.
So Manure then? Liverpool? Even City now. What an absolute idiot.

    Interesting twitter poll on Talksport.
“Which club would Rafa have more success with. West Ham or Newcastle?”
    Currently it’s 73% Newcastle.

Mousse ? Some sort of light and airy soft pudding.

London clubs are just destinations now for tourists. The stadiums are increasingly remote from their communities and fans and if the owner of Fulham gets his way Baseball will be the next big thing down there along with sales of jumbo tubs of pop corn, plastic clappers and Towie look alike fans. The fact that West Ham had to add the word “London” to their crest as no tourist knew where they were from speaks volumes. Too much plastic in the world.

@ Bobbybee, your previous post made me laugh out loud re your reference to chicken lickin, my wife used to read that book to the kids, they loved it and still ask there mum to recite the book, she knows the story off by heart, even though the kids are now in their thirties.
Thanks mate for cheering up a very poor start of the day. You are a diamond.

Oldgit. Cheers marra, the pleasures all mine mate. 🙂
Just listening to this knacka slagging off our great city. He’d be well advised not to show his fat ugly mug up here again.
Apparently there’s nothing to do up here except the football club, according to him. He’s proper slagging us off big style.
Seems to forget Newcastle is the party capital of EUROPE. Nothing to do. What a dick he is. He’s never even been here, just drove past according to him. Typical cockney loudmouth. London is the world.
So now he claims he’ll come to SJP and sit amongst the lads. After that outburst I would strongly advise him to not bother for his health. Someone will chin him for sure and frankly, serve him right.
We’re not just ANYONE. We are NE1.
