The Mirror is reporting that Newcastle are after 26-year-old Reims goalkeeper Edouard Mendy as it seems that manager Rafa Benitez is looking for a goalkeeper in addition to Martin Dubravka.
Martin can be bought for £4M via the terms of his loan contract, and it’s expected that Rafa will take up that option.
Yet we are also being linked with goalkeepers in addition to Dubravka, so maybe either Rob Elliot or Karl Darlow will be leaving this summer.
Mendy stands over 6ft 5ins tall and has been at Reims for two years after leaving Marseille.

He would be cheap at only £2M, and he did well in keeping 17 clean sheets in the 34 games he played last season.
Rafa seems to want to bring in two new goalkeepers this summer, which is a surprise after Dubravka was brilliant for us on loan from Sparta Prague this year and Elliot and Darlow are backups.
After Joe Hart’s poor season on loan at West Ham United last season the Hammers are also after a goalkeeper; they are reported to be in the driver’s seat for Mendy.
But if Rafa brought in both Dubravka and Mendy £6M is not a lot to pay for two good goalkeepers.
