It appears that Chancel Mbemba is on his way out of Newcastle having been signed by the club in the summer of 2015 from Anderlecht.
Unfortunately for Chancel, his first season was under Steve McClaren, and we were relegated after Rafa Benitez was unable to save us from the drop.
In that first season, he was one of our best players but he has not been given many chances by Rafa Benitez, and there seems to be no future for him at Newcastle.
He is ready to open talks with his former club Anderlecht according to media outlet Het Nieuwsblad in Belgium.
He is also wanted by Bundesliga club Hoffenheim who finished third in the league last season, so he has at least two good European clubs after him.
The report is that discussions on his personal terms will soon be underway and presumably a transfer fee has already been agreed between Anderlecht and Newcastle.
It could be a double deal between Anderlecht and Newcastle with the Belgian powerhouse also keen to sign Newcastle goalkeeper Matz Sels.
Matz was on loan last season at Anderlecht and had a good season back in his home country.
Anderlecht failed to qualify for next season’s Champions League, but they did qualify for the Europa League after finishing 3rd top of the Belgian First Division behind Club Brugge and Standard Liege.

His thesis project looks at Premier League fans’ team identification – how well they support and identify with their team.
