Newcastle have been interested in Spartak Moscow’s Dutch winger Quincy Promes since the summer of 2014.
Promes was born in Amsterdam and started his career at his hometown club Ajax before moving to FC Twente in 2012.
The 26-year-old moved from FC Twente to Spartak Moscow in the summer of 2014 for around €15M after Newcastle were interested in signing him that summer.
Since then he’s been productive on the wing, and in 128 appearances for Spartak, he has scored 64 goals and had 33 assists.
Quincy Promes – 26-year-old Spartak Moscow winger
Southampton’s Daily Echo is reporting that as well as Southampton, Everton and Newcastle are keen on signing the winger.
Southampton were keen to sign Promes in January to help them save their Premier League status, and they will continue to try to sign the 36 times capped Netherlands International.
Last season Promes had his best season in Moscow and in 38 total appearances, he scored 21 goals and had 10 assists.
Promes is precisely what Newcastle need – a goalscoring winger, and he still has three years left on his contract in Moscow.
But he will not come cheap either.
The winger made his debut for the Netherlands in March 2014 in a friendly match against France, which ended in a 2–0 defeat.
He has since played for his country 27 times with 5 goals and previously played 10 times for the U21 side with 7 goals.
