We’re Delighted To Be Playing A Side of The Caliber Of Newcastle United

Newcastle will play their first friendly of the season in Ireland while the lads are at Carton House in July.

Newcastle will play St Patrick’s Athletic on Tuesday 17th July when the Ireland club will be in the middle of their season.

They are currently in 5th position in the League of Ireland Premier League with Dundalk currently in first place.

St. Patrick’s manager Liam Buckley

Here are their current league standings.

St. Patrick’s manager Liam Buckley is delighted to be able to play a Premier League club:

“We are all delighted to be in a position to welcome Newcastle United to Richmond Park.”

“We understand that Rafael Benitez will be preparing his side ahead of the beginning of their season in August.”

“So we know they will be looking for a good test of their fitness and match sharpness.”

“From our side of things, we are delighted to play a top opposition and test ourselves against them as we look to stay sharp in the middle of our own season.”

“It’s great for the local area of Inchicore too (it’s a suburb of Dublin) that a side of the caliber of Newcastle United are going to be playing.”

“So we are looking forward to hopefully seeing a big crowd in Richmond Park.”

Preseason training starts four weeks tomorrow on July 2nd and Rafa has got his wish again for the third summer running.

The lads will train at Carton House in County Kildare where Rafa has plenty of time to prepare the team for another tough upcoming Premier League season.

We have four preseason fixtures already arranged and expect one or two more to be announced shortly.

So things are starting to happen – now we need a couple of new players brought through the door and get the manager signed up to that new contract.

Comments welcome.

In reference to the earlier mentioning of Nicolai Jørgensen though I don’t believe he’s a £20M player but neither are Kenedy or maybe of the other players mentioned on here that’s just the crazy marked!

Nicolai is our #9 and he’s most definitely going to the World Cup!

I honestly don’t know how to word posts to you without getting some kind of hissy fit. Nobody has said every signing Rafa has made has been good. What point are you trying to make?

Easy to criticise some of Rafa’s signings, but in truth he’s had a limited budget, and you need sufficient numbers, and both leagues are highly competitive. In that circumstance you’ll inevitably get players who’ll disappoint. Lazaar has been a disapointment, Sels also to some degree. Gamez a bit unlucky with injuries, but looked a great signing at the time. That’s about it, although I actually think Gayle wasn’t a great signing, and that we should have gone with Mitro and Murphy up top, and brought in a bit more at 10 that season, or just played Gayle as a second striker, or Gayle and Perez interchanging as we saw with some success in the last few games of last term. I think he hasn’t been the best fit for us.

Wow, not sure somebody has the first idea how a blog works.
You post a comment and others add to it. Some may agree, others may not. If you don’t want replies that might hurt your massive ego, then simply don’t post.

Re railed seats. Looked at this for the first time and would mention a few things. Not particularly coming down in favour or against at this stage.
In Germany they have railed seats. For a Uefa game the seats are locked in the seat down position, so they are essentially a seat. They take up the same space as a conventional seat. So, no gain there.
For domestic games they lock the seat up out of the way. Is it still one person per seat or do they allow more into the section, thereby making it more than one supporter per seat.
If it is the former how do you get more folk in. If it is the latter you will create a situation where the crowd don’t stay with their seat. They will move about. Groups with a particular agenda may start to pool together.
If people get the idea they are anonymous in a crowd this tends to lead to disorder.

There is no disorder by and large where I sit. If I start to behave in a racist or disorderly manner where I sit I would be banned and loose my ticket. Not that I would be inclined to, but if I were it is a real degree of control on people.

Perhaps it is not as simple as folks make out.
We all liked the atmosphere of years gone by, however there was a real down side to it.

Nicky, when you’re forced to shop in the bargain basement, it stands to reason you might not always get it right. You have to gamble to an extent. When you gamble, you sometimes lose. When you compare the great buys he’s brought in to the ones that haven’t worked, he’s, we’ll on top.
Maybe Rafa should hire Jesper as an advisor? 🙂

Posada, they don’t take up the same space mate. Go back and look at that I posted last night. That’s the whole point of them.
Now, because seats are separate, with a space between them, they take up more space. The rail seats advertised offer up to 88% more punters.
Obviously you wouldn’t want a stadium full, but placed strategically you can increase, SJP’s capacity by quite a bit.

Some good points there, I for one would like safe standing back, not for commercial reasons but for atmospheric. If the ‘messing around’ rears its ugly head then it could be punishable by seat only restrictions going forward for the fans that offend… Most fans want it I assume, going on the polls and angst amongst sections of fans when it was dismissed at government level this season gone when WBA challenged it.

Rafa’s latest buy compared with whom?
    I know Denmark’s goalie
    Kaspar Schmeichel aged 31
    Value £10M
    Martin Dubravka aged 29
    Paid £4M
Who would you rather have ?

I’ll say it… Every signing Rafa has made has worked out simply because we have either achieved or exceeded expectations comparable to outlay in the last 2 seasons… Given they have been bought for relative peanuts, can you really say Sels, lazaar and Gamez were flops when we effectively haven’t lost anything and if we do it won’t be much as the were bought for 5m, 4m and 1.5m? They have all added some thing and we get most of our money back!

And I still think at 21 and the glimpses we seen last season that Murphy won’t flop or make a loss at 12m outlay, I’m sure maybe 2m of that is possibly performance related so not payable upfront, he needs to get more composed for PL level is my only critique of him, that will come with time imo.

    Lighten up Jail! Lol

He got to be the opposition keeper in training lol, we will get our money back maybe a mil or so hit… I would like a ‘Sels on’ clause when his sale is finalised too, he might improve and end up in a decent league, too good for Belgium but not good enough for where we want to go

Jail…the great thing about life and especially blogging I don’t have to give a damn about things I don’t care about….

…So some have an idea about what blogging is and think they can randomly can leave comments where they see fit…sure! And people can answer where they are fit…

    Works both ways…

To give you an idea of what I am saying… take Bobby for instance he shoots in every direction and cannot grasp why I for one have no answer for him…and then you have your odd posters (not talking about Jib here) who seconds what Bobby’s on…

Not by problem to be honest with you…so if you have something of importance to add to my comment to Martoon then do so. If you just want to keep sidetracking then read what I just wrote…it applies to you as well 😉
