Everton have been linked with interest in Newcastle captain Jamaal Lascelles for some months now.
After sacking Sam Allardyce in the summer, the Goodison Park club have signed former Hull City and Watford manager Marco Silva who is an up-and-coming young manager.
The Sun is reporting that Silva will now make Lascelles his top priority signing to shore up a defense that leaked 58 goals last season.
Everton finished the season in a respectable 8th position, but every team above them conceded fewer goals.
So defense is one area the 40-year-old manager will attempt to improve this summer.
Marco Silva – interested in Jamaal Lascelles
The Sun reports that Everton will be willing to pay out £30M to get Jamaal.
The Newcastle defender is not only a good Premier League player but has top-class leadership skills on and off the field.
Jamaal would be worth £30M to the Toffees, but we would still be shocked if Rafa lets the 24-year-old go – even for £30M.
The former Nottingham Forest defender is a lynchpin at Newcastle, and there should be no way he leaves the club this summer.
He was our Player of the Season last season, and Jamal has attracted interest from some big clubs – including Chelsea.
And one last thing, Silva is reported to be getting at least £3M/year at Everton.
So if he’s worth that how then much is Rafa worth to Newcastle.
Answer – a lot more than the £4M he’s reported to be getting.
What do you think?

Comment #41Smoke and mirrors. Everton’s real target.
In competition with Brighton for the signing.
Charlton Athletic ace Ezri Konsa is attracting attention from a duo of Premier League clubs, according to The Mirror’s Live Transfer Blog
Brighton and Hove Albion will rival Everton for the £5m signing of Konsa.
The 20-year-old has been a regular for Charlton in League One this season but is expected to leave this summer after the South London side failed to win promotion to the Championship via the play-offs.
Despite his young age, Konsa has already played nearly 100 senior matches for the Addicks, including 47 in all competitions this season.
Predominantly a centre-half, the youngster has also operated in defensive midfield.
Premier League duo Brighton and Everton are now weighing up £5m swoops for the England under-20 international, who has two years left to run on his current deal at The Valley.
The Charlton starlet is also interesting Everton, who signed his former Addicks team-mate Lookman in January 2016 and could return for another talented youngster.
He would be a great long-term signing for either Everton or Brighton; the Toffees will see him as a long-term partner for Michael Keane while Brighton know that he will soon be good enough to oust Duffy or Dunk.

Comment #42Pretty sure Gibson leaving was loosely linked to Beardsley and bullying, remember reading that somewhere?
Unpopular view but LeJeune was actually a better CB than Lascelles in the last 3rd of the season, more worried about reports of him to Sevilla… as they sound more plausible.
Always thought Lascelles would suit Mourinho’s set up, hes that John Terry type character, die for the cause, run through walls, leader etc If I was him I’d hold out a season or 2 for a move to a top club, hes developed under both seasons of Rafa and can develop even further next season. For me, Man City spent 50m on Stones, and personally id rather have lascelles than him, id start the bidding around there if they do let him go

Comment #43Ive had a lot of my mates saying “if he sold sissoko for 30 mil he will sell lascelles”.. the fact is sissoko isnt worth 30 mil and never was.
Lascelles is worth that now and will be worth a lot more IF he continues this way.
Its not even a relevant comparison really is it

Comment #45How can people point to what Rafa did or didn’t do at other clubs and expect he’ll do the same here, was Ashley in charge at the other clubs?
The one certainty is Ashley will do what’s best for him not Rafa or the club or fans.
I can see Rafa letting his contract run down then leave, unforfilled promises won’t cut it.

Comment #46That picture is so cringe. Managers shouldn’t wear kit during unveiling. Holding a scarf wearing a suit is fine

Comment #49Spoof lascelles isn’t quick really. He is a powerful runner once speed is up but over 5-20 yards he is probably solid without being like a des walker of old

Abramovich is one of Putin’s puppets, so he is doing what will please Putin; ie doing the right thing for Russia. I would luv it if he pulled out of Chelsea. Apparently he has donated £1.8 billion in “loans” to the club so he could leave them in deep shit as they don’t generate enough money naturally.
