Aston Villa Facing Financial Crisis – Newcastle In For Star Player

News today that Newcastle are monitoring the situation at Aston Villa and of their star player Jack Grealish.

Aston Villa could be in deep trouble financially, and at the very least they must significantly reduce their operating costs, with the club reported losing £6M a month currently.

Rafa has joined a long list of PL clubs watching what happens to Jack Grealish this summer and could try to sing the player.

There are rumors that Aston Villa may have to go into administration (bankruptcy) and they would have to have a sale of several of their top players if that happens.

It seems that Villa are suffering from being over-ambitious and failing to get promoted this season has been a hammer blow to them financially.

It looks like Villa will have to sell Jack Grealish this summer for the highest price possible.

With so many PL clubs interested in him that will help to raise the price and Newcastle will likely not be able to afford the 22-year-old Englishman.

In fact, Villa have already put a £40M transfer fee on his head, and they may even get that from a free-spending club.

But that’s not Newcastle United.

Newcastle may never be a free-spending club as long as Mike Ashley – know for his thriftiness – remains the owner.

There’s no way Newcastle will sign Jack Grealish this summer even if Rafa would like to.

Comments welcome.

Villa are desperate and everyone knows it. £40 mill is a MA esque valuation of a kid who has baggage and not set the world on fire. AV mate says he was rated 10 mill not so long ago.

Today’s Premier League AGM in Harrogate could have significant ramifications for how overseas TV money is distributed in public. Lee Charnley is expected to be there representing NUFC today

While it may not be a game changer for the top 6 who will no doubt scoop more into their troughs other clubs and particularly Newcastle who are big box office for the TV companies ( 52,000 fans, Rafa, pictures of the Tyne Bridge etc compared to other clubs often with less that 30,000 fans for a match and no Angel of the North pictures ) will be negotiating for a better deal which might help the transfer kitty fund.

Villa won’t have a choice what he goes for if the administrators roll into town. In any case, I don’t think they’re in a position to be turning down £10m offers for players, no matter what they evaluate them at.

    HAHAHAHAHAHAHA!

You said Aarons is only 22.
Only ? Remember this is a game played by young men.
Watched and managed by old men, but played by young men.
Your best days can be over by age 27.

I saw Supermac make his home debut. He was 21.
He seemed really old to me. I was about 12.

    Value of NUFC ?
We should remember that if you take Man U out of things there has never been a purchase of a Premier League club above 220 million.
Does not matter if revenues have gone up from TV. That’s because they are obliged to spend it to stay in the Prem. So, turnover looks good, but you can’t actually take any money out as profit.

If you pay 400 million you’d have to find the same again to invest. That’s 800 million.
I would not pay more than 200 million if I was loaded.
Easy to chuck figures like 400 million about when it’s not your money.

This situation could work for us in this case, a cash offer could be too good to turn down.

You referred to me in the context of Leeds and commercial revenue and I haven’t a clue what you’re alluding to. Why was your comment levelled at me? Could it be you’re so wrapped up in yourself that reality passes you by?

And you met Bonnamassa when you were working in Denver was it? Ffs, you tell more lies than Tom Pepper.

Ashley holding the threat of not giving transfer funding to Rafa until he signs a new contract is ludicrous even by Ashley’s standards.

If Rafa doesn’t get funds to buy then we’re stuck with what we’ve got – assuming that the likes of Lascelles, Shelvey and other talent want to stay at a club that’s showing no ambution. All Rafa can do is his best and there’s the threat of relegation for the third time.

Realistically, it doesn’t make any difference to Rafa – he sees the season out and leaves – he’s got nothing to lose and his reputation remains intact and who’s made a balls of things again? Step forward Mr Ashley.

They are paying £975m for 52 games each season for 3 years

No one has suggested that there may well be negotiations going on behind the scenes to sell the club at the moment. Obviously this will complicate and delay the transfer activities especially whether or not we should sell Lascelles.

Amazon have picked up one of the TV rights packages

Package F, acquired by Amazon Prime Video, includes the right, for the first time in the UK, to make available a full round of live Premier League matches.

Interesting. Presumably this means they could spread them out over a full week to ensure maximum coverage. Wonder how my missus will feel about me watching footy every day for a week.

I also wonder how the BBC would feel if the games are that spread out – it will make Match of the Day hard to produce.

It seems Everton are looking at offloading a lot of their players. Supposedly they’ve around 35 first team players and silva or the new director has come out and said they need to sell before they can buy.

Some of the players listed reportedly for sale are ademola lookman (I rate this kid), bolasie, niasse, klaassen and Sandro Ramirez.

Newcastle’s secret weapon was the togetherness of the players. I don’t know how much is down to Benitez and how much down to simply having a small squad or being a promoted/ underdog team, but Lascelles has a big part in that for sure. If it was simply down to his playing I’d take £45m but if he goes then Yedlin and Dummet will automatically become worse players, and probably a few others. He seems to add an extra £5m on to the value of other players. He’s our WilIiam Wallace (the movie version).

I can’t see how Grealish is worth £40m after one good season in the Championship. What does that make Mitro worth? There’s not much difference in their age. How much is Tammy worth? or Kenedy? How much will Armstrong be worth if he can master the Championship?

@ Ronaldo Aaron’s, bet they are on high wages, and will be hard to shift. Might be a couple of bargains to be had, but would prefer them to stay where they are and bring the club down. don’t think they are to Silva liking for his style of play.

There’ll be nothing doing with Chelsea until the situation with Abramovitch and Conte’s future are sorted. At least I wouldn’t have thought so. That whole club is balancing on the edge at the minute and could implode. Very funny, Chelsea is the one club I’ve always persistently hated, along with most of their players. All but Zola, really.

Ed, its starting to feel like the Sun News paper. Headline: Newcastle in for star player. Then we read the piece and it ends with: With so many PL clubs interested in him that will help to raise the price and Newcastle will likely not be able to afford the 22-year-old Englishman.
In fact, Villa have already put a £40M transfer fee on his head, and they may even get that from a free-spending club. Come on Ed your better than that, if we are going to do this lets go with Newcastle in for Messi, then to be let down with the 200 million fee. This kid isn’t worth 40 million he isn’t even worth 30 million, has never really set the world alight, plays in the championship still, there are way to many players out there worth less and better.

On another note, Sunderland may have done Newcastle a huge favor. ( What the Mackems helping out the toon army are you crazy ) A few days ago it was reported that Besiktas have agreed the sale of Oguzhan Ozyakup to Newcastle but we never really saw any medical happening reports. Maybe Besiktas were waiting on Jeremain Lens to be confirmed first from Funderland, yes Funderland, the magical place that makes Newcastle fans happy.

I suggested Lascelles as a trade-in for Kenedy a week or so ago and got shouted down.
I still think that will probably be the only way we’ll get Kenedy, and if we could get Loftus-Cheek as well, what a bonus that would be.

Players come and go that’s football, if that didn’t happen we would still have Gazza and Shearer playing for us. Not wishing this to happen but Lascelles is on the Radar for Chelsea and Spurs, two teams that have some players that would help out our team in a huge way, one player does not make a team, swap deals etc. Yes, oh my god, he never said that did he, lets look at the possible swap deals on paper first. Chelsea want Lascelles, we want Kenedy, but Kenedy by himself is not a good deal for the club, would another player thrown into the deal make it worth it, say Kenedy and Tomás Kalas Central defender plus cash or Kenedy plus Zappacosta for the right back position plus cash. Now spurs, honestly looking at spurs I don’t see realistic swap deals on the cards as the players at spurs that could do an amazing job for us are all priced higher that Lascelles, spurs would be full cash only. But at a stretch and a huge stretch at that, Trippier right back and Heung-min Son swap plus cash, I have always liked Min-Son. So don’t shoot the messenger these are just scenarios that the club may be forced into due to the owner not giving funds to Rafa, as Greavsie used to say ” Its a funny old game, funny old game “

So, some suggestions we are negotiating with Fenerbache about Skrtel.

Ok, 60 million for Lascelles and Skrtel as a 2 year temp solution until we find the next Lascelles. Remember that Lascelles is good, but Rafa has made him a twice the player he was. Rafa can do the same with another young defender.

    In Rafa we trust.
