Newcastle United have announced the retained list and players who will be leaving the club at the end of this month.
Three first-team players – Massadio Haidara (54 appearances), Jesus Gamez (10 appearances) and Curtis Good (2 appearances) will leave the club this month.
Jesus Gamez – made only 10 appearances for Newcastle
This is how the Newcastle website announced the rest of the changes:
“The club has offered new deals to youngsters Luke Charman and Callum Roberts and are currently in negotiations with Alex Gilliead in relation to a new contract.”
“A further 18 players will leave the club at under-23 level – Yannick Aziakonou, Kyle Cameron, Yasin Ben El-Mhanni, Stuart Findlay, Owen Gallacher, Macaulay Gillesphey, Mackenzie Heaney, Tom Heardman, Jack Hunter, Ben Kitchen, Michael Newberry, Brendan Pearson, Callum Smith, Liam Smith, Craig Spooner, Dan Ward, Callum Williams and Paul Woolston.”
“Meanwhile, scholars Thomas Allan, Lewis Cass, Matthew Longstaff, Oliver Walters, Kelland Watts and Adam Wilson have all been offered professional contracts.”
“Isaac Gamblin, Mace Goodridge, Jack Robson and Kurtis Russell have been released from the club’s Academy.”
Rafa Benitez put out a message to those players leaving Newcastle United this summer:
“I would like to say thank you to the players who are leaving us this summer for their hard work and commitment while with the club.”
“Letting players go is always a difficult decision and I wish each of them only the best for their football careers.”
It looks like 25 players at all levels will leave the club at the end of the month.
There are no real suprises in the list of players released.

Comment #41Munster, it would be my pleasure mate. 🙂
Are you taking your lad to watch the St Patrick’s game? Easier option than bringing him all the way over here first. Eventually he has to come here, because as you know, SJP is something special, but it gives you a great chance to watch the Toon without the ferry.

Comment #42Of course, you know what’ll happen when you bring him here don’t you? You’ll get bitten by the bug again and so will he. My mate hadn’t been for years and he came with me for one game. Hasn’t stopped coming since. 🙂 Very nice bug to be bitten by.

The other part to consider is that players that we are trying to recruit to come to NUFC may be aware of the charges being upheld. Youth players will be reluctant to join us if he is still here. Their parents will suggest they go elsewhere. Even full senior players may say that they don’t want to be associated with us. It is a black eye for the club. He just has to be retired.

Comment #44Toonces, I doubt you’ll find many – if any – on here who disagree with what you’re saying. I can’t see how the club could even begin to justify keeping him. It is a crying shame, but if only a quarter of the allegations were true it’s still too many.

Fortunately I don’t but the missus gets terrible pain in her legs which is probably a form of arthritis and we’ve been thinking of ordering some to see if it helps her.
Really frustrates her as she used to happily walk up the side of mountains not so long ago, now struggles to walk a few hundred yards.
Healthspan is a big online supplier who are very reliable and I’d doubt it they were selling dodgy stuff, worth a look for anyone interested.
Also it’s worth looking at Magnesium for various ailments.
The symptoms of magnesium deficiency are usually subtle unless your levels become severely low. Deficiency may cause fatigue, muscle cramps, mental problems, irregular heartbeat and osteoporosis. If you believe you may have a magnesium deficiency, your suspicions can be confirmed with a simple blood test.

Comment #47So many things to comment on today but…wow! Curtis Good has left the building. 🙂
I was sure we’d used bits of him to repair marveaux or was it the other way round? We should get a sell on fee though. Just in case anyone wants to scrap those titanium pins holding his hip together.

He got quite a lot of games with the reserves last season but I think Lady Luck has been a little absent for him in his career so far.
Hope he can make a name for himself somewhere but I doubt if it’ll be in the EPL.

Comment #50Bill, Tsunski, I’m sure even if he goes home he’ll make a good living out of the game. Not being quite good enough for a PL team is no shame is it? He joins a very good club in that because none of us are good enough either!! 🙂

Comment #51Have to say I wasn’t too impressed with Gillead in the play off games but if they are happy to give him a new contract then the same for Wee Adam is a no brainer.

Comment #53Bill, The thing with Arma is he still has two years left on his current contract. Selling him now is just crazy, when there’s, enough evidence he could make it.
Equal top scorer ever for England youth teams, with Owen. If he scores tomorrow in the final he’ll be our all time top scorer on his own. For comparison Kane scored 17.
Kane was no great shakes until he got a chance and took it. His loan spells we’re not reflective of what was still to come.
He’s now on £200k a week. Now I ain’t comparing like for like, Kane is exceptional, but the point is that if he does make it, what might he be worth in a year or two? We need to benefit from that, not anybody else.

Comment #57Whoops. The comparison with Kane at youth level shows that Arma has scored just under twice as many goals, with 31 (or 32) so far, compared to Kane’s 17.
It was only when Spurs gave him a first team chance that the goals really started to flow.
Vardy wasn’t even a pro footballer at that age was he?
Anyway, we’re having a horror movie night just now – the new version of ‘It’ I’m told – so I’ll say my good evenings. Later.

Comment #58But Owen was the complete reverse of Vardy. He was playing for the England senior team at 18 but was basically finished by the time he was 26. In fact, he was finished at exactly the time we made him our record signing.
I’m convinced that Owen actually played way too much football of a very competitive nature when he was young and paid the price in later years.

Comment #64Slightly off topic but i just come across this on twitter and thought it would make for good chat.
A hypothetical thought after hearing Lascelles is a ‘key target’ for chelsea If we sold him to them for £45m and there was an agreement Rafa could use the cash to sign Zouma and Kenedy from them (and loan Abraham/or Ruben loftus-cheek), would you be happy?
Or what combination would you like ?
Personally im one to keep lascelles at all costs.

The Tyne is a lot cleaner than you think, I’m down there quite a lot between st Peter’s basin and the Armstrong Bridge. I see loads of different types of birds diving for fish, it’s way healthier than it used to be. Decent salmon too

How do we ever build a top quality squad if we just keep selling our top players.
I agree we should keep Lascelles and build a team around the lad.Dubravka is a cracking addition as a starting point and was a no brainer for the money he cost ,But we need to build on this.

Comment #67Thing is, we should have made enough this season to buy some players, in addition we have expected outgoings (mitro) to get a bit extra to boost the funds. We shouldn’t be desperate to sell a vital player to fund transfers.

Sorry to hear that Mrs.EssexGB has leg problems.
I’m too much of a gent to ask her age but many women in particular and those of a certain age who’ve spent years on their feet working such as Nurses of which my missus is one suffer from “plantar fasciitis”.
It’s very common but often a missed diagnosis because arthritis and other similar conditions are often assumed to be the obvious cause.
Suggest you at least speak to the Docs to eliminate or suggest this as the problem.
And tell her to stop kicking you , that doesn’t help matters !

As I said hypothetical if it were to happen … I agree we shouldn’t be selling our best players and do need to build on what we have. Also has anything been said about Abraham ? If we were interested surely his stock would have plummeted after an unsuccessful loan spell at Swansea. Also if we could manage to get Kennedy ( unlikely) RLC would be a terrific loan signing

I always miss current posts living down under but my better half had painful arthritis until our GP recommended something his wife uses with success. It’s Turmeric. She takes a teaspoonful with apple cider vinegar and a small amount of black pepper! It sounds and probably tastes revolting but she has NO pain in her hands if she takes it every day. She buys the turmeric from an Asian store by the Kg rather than a chemist which is dear as poison.
It may sound suspect but pain free is like winning the league.

Comment #78Vodka? Cannabis? Ken Dodd? getting lost off now.
About 15 years ago I was out in a certain town. I never say the name of the place on here as it brings bad luck. It begins with S.
The Empire Theatre turned out. Doddy had been on that evening. His audiance, older folks mainly, made their way to the pubs, taxi Qs and restaurants. They were all buzzing. One fella said to me Kens been on stage for hours, we thought it was never going to end, we didnt want it to end.
Wish I had seen one of his shows. He described himself as a Giggster. If he had an audiance he regarded it as the greatest compliment he could be paid.
Some players could learn that from him if you really want a football connection.

Beardo should go for his coaching record alone, which frankly is and has been appalling over a long time. The upheld racism and bullying verdict is a separate issue, but I don’t think many people with Beardo’s record would still be in their job.
Still my favourite all time NUFC player though.
******
Agreed. But his coaching record is a different thing. In football you make the most of those times when you are wanted, by getting your present contract. If you are not wanted you move on.
It’s no big deal. How many managers have been sacked this year alone.

That’s good to hear, my main concern was with the amount of polluting chemical that almost certainly still remain locked into the silt on the river bed. As I said above the tidal zone and possibly from just below it it probably is pretty clean.
I remember as a lad walking past the paper mills near Bensham seeing the hundreds of gallons of chemical being discharged continuously into the Team (otherwise known as the Gut) and wondering if it would ever be clean.
Hopefully nature is healing itself.
