Newcastle Linked With Midfielder They Have Tracked For Two Years

It could be tough for Newcastle to get Robert Kenedy back for next season – either on loan for the season or on a permanent deal – which fans would prefer.

But if we cannot get him then Rafa wants to bring in at least one winger, and Newcastle have also been linked with Middlesbrough’s Adama Traore, but he would cost around £15M by all accounts.

A player who has impressed Rafa in the Championship is Nottingham Forest winger Ben Osborn who Newcastle scouts have been keeping tabs on for two years now.

The Derby-born 23-year-old has been at Nottingham Forest since he 8 years old, and he’s come through their Youth Academy.

23-year-old Nottingham Forest midfielder Ben Osborn

Osborn has youth caps at England U18, U19, and U20 levels and could be a reasonable buy for Newcastle if Rafa rates the player.

He’s played 186 times for Forest with 14 goals and 25 assists since making his debut back in March 2014 in the Championship at Ipswich Town as a 19-year-old.

He is left-footed and can also play in several different positions and is quite versatile.

The Chronicle is reporting that Osborn will probably be a secondary target if we cannot get Kenedy in or we can’t get a decent deal for Adama Traore.

Nottingham Forest manager Aitor Karanka is looking at bringing in new players this summer and could be willing to sell Osborn, so he has money to bring in some targets.

Last season Osborn played 51 games for Nottingham Forest with 4 goals and 6 assists.

He would be a decent player for a reasonable fee – but again he’s not top of the list.

Comments welcome.

    Typical.
Go out for a bite to eat, come back and someone’s mashed up the Blog.
    Definitely a penalty.
    What does VAR think ?
And Rafa to Leicester – that story is weeks old.
I think a siesta is called for and I’ll check again when we’ve signed someone.

The previous thread comments layout’s spread seems wider than usual, avatars/ tags way to the left of comments. This one’s ok. Anyone else got or had the same display problem?

Market and transfers unbelievable. Grealish valued at £40m yet Justin kluivert almost off to Rome for £15-16m. That’ll prove to be a bargain, I think this kid has ronaldo level potential just whether he has the attitude, mentality and hunger that ronaldo had.

Don’t see why anyone would think its so outlandish that there are rumours Rashford may come here on a six month or season long loan..
He isn’t going to get a lot of game time at Utd…they’ll want him yo keep developing…they won’t want to loan him to a credible top 6 rival..can’t really see him going abroad just now.. Rafa has just polished up another top team’s forgotten youngster this season…
    Why not?
I would love him to come here rather than us fail to sign a decent goal scorer on a permanent deal in this window..

Thanks for that. So it was Jiblets caused the problem. Mmm.

‘Mea culpa’ says he? I can think of better words than culpa to describe him. Although culpa, a mistake, just about sums him up.

Rashford will not go to a world cup and come back to thrash out a season in a mid to lower pl club. If anything he will outright move and it won’t be to a mid to lower pl club. Not. Happening.

A long string of z’s or any character, breaks the blog? I doubt it, unless there is a nasty bug in the auto-line wrapping code. More likely a set of hidden control characters that somehow got inserted.

On getting Rashford on loan….yeah highly improbable….but it would be amazing.

Nope. Long line of z’s, infeasibly long URL’s, if it’s unbroken it doesn’t get wrapped. Knacks it every time. 😐
