Jack Colback could bring in a decent £5M in this summer’s transfer market if we can sell him.
After being involved in a training altercation with Rafa Benitez last August the local lad has no future at the club.
He was already training with the U23 squad when one of our first players picked up a knock, and Rafa wanted Jack to fill in for him – but he refused.
That was it on Jack Colback – you don’t say no to Rafa Benitez when he makes a reasonable request in training.
Jack Colback wants to be on Newcastle’s books until next summer
Jack signed on as a free agent from Sunderland in the summer of 2014 on a five-year deal, and he seems determined to become a free agent again next summer.
Nottingham Forst and other clubs are interested in buying him, but a barrier to that are his £40K/week wages.
And that’s also a reason why Jack wants to remain a Newcastle player for another year.
Rafa may try to force the issue since it does mean around £5M for his transfer coffers.
We will have to see what happens but it seems Jack would be happy enough to go on loan again.
That could possibly mean a return to Nottingham Forest on loan to see out the last year of his lucrative contract at Newcastle.
We’ll have to wait and see what happens but all transfers have to be completed by Thursday, August 9 since the Premier League starts on the following weekend.
The Premier League fixtures are to be released this Thursday.
Comments welcome.

Comment #42re Mitro, C’mon lads, it’s a no brainer. Rafa won’t have him. End of. This shows that even the great Rafa ain’t perfect – Mitro will do Fulham one hell of a Premier League job next year while we footle about with the replacement we bought with his money (£15m or so)

Comment #43When Mitro was let out on loan, I remember Rafa stipulated it would not be to another Premier league team.
That speaks volumes to me.

Welshie, no I think I mean
SWFC who have had about nine seasons in top division football, highest ever gate of 32,000 mostly arsenal fans, one solitary English cup and a handful of early exit European forays and a desperate ex-colliery grim sheep processing backwash destined to lower league oblivion
OR
NUFC?

Comment #459 – have you sent mitros “highlight” reel. Even Dennis Wise wouldn’t stick his neck out for a £10m punt on the basis of his goals for Fulham. If this was just some player brought to our attention we’d be rightly thinking that goals against the likes of Malagasy Women’s Institute Shove ha’penny reserves weren’t convincing enough to go all wobbly about.

We’ve seen how good he is at Premier League level. We’ve seen how good he is at championship level. And we’ve seen how good he is at International level against some fairly ordinary opposition. We should just abandon the wishful thinking thing and get on with the search for some better staff.

Comment #54In a way we have two conundrums with our strikers.
Armstrong and Mitro, personally I’d keep both and perhaps see what the situation is in the January window.
Unless of course we sign Lewindosky or Akinfenwa this window. Of course I’m joking about one of those players!

The England bowlers were pants, if they perform like that against the Aussies then it’ll be a massacre.

Comment #57EGB England bowlers. They won’t be the same bowlers v Oz. We are very strong in IDO, stronger than Oz. We rested 3 of our best players v Scotland and got beat by a whisker. Scotland are very very unlucky not to be in the World Cup Finals. England (I haven’t looked at the betting) should be very strong favourites at home, both against Oz and in the World Cup.

Rock Around the Clock…. Wasn’t that song featured in a film? Blackboard Jungle was it? The press were all.over it, ted’s ripping cinema seats off the floor – ‘ooligans, ‘ooligans! I remember seeing Little Richard at the City Hsll where they were jiving in the aisles.
Bloody hell, Radio 2’s playing Fast Car now. Great song from a great album. Tracey must be due a relaunch soon as Joan Amratrading’s been getting some air time lately.

Comment #59Well that would bring us back to the tired old argument that because Rafa never ditched the system that seen us finish as Champions with most goals scored and least conceded to play to Mitros strengths makes him a far from perfect manager. Mmmm

The seeming stand off between Rafa and Ashley’s still holding and if it continues, I can see Rafa being forced to keep Armstrong and Mitro if Ashley holds back on transfer funds.
Why do I get the feeling that Ashley’s contrived this stupidity?
He’s reportedly told Charnley to get Rafa signed up but presumably on terms dictated by Ashley and Barnes. Rafa knows that Charnley’s got no authority and Ashley’s being stupid as ever by not even meeting Rafa to find a way forward. If it continues, players will lose any motivation they had and I can honestly see another relegation threat looming.
Amanda, where the hell are you when you’re needed?
Guess I need some of Bobby’s magic potion.

Comment #69Ronaldo, bold claims twice today about Berisha. If they’re true, it’s exactly the kind of signing I want to see. Skrtel l’m less sure about, but we’ll see. Rafa’s been after some true experience in that dressing room, someone to galvanise the troops and give them someone to look up to. Gamez wasn’t that guy, Reina could have been and Skrtel most definitely will be if signed.

Comment #71Hope you’re wrong about Stavely but if not, let’s hope Ashley sees sense and comes to an amicable arrangement with Rafa. I can’t see it happening as Ashley’s greedy, misguided and stubborn. Rafa’s a proud man who knows what’s what and Ashley won’t give him it.

Chancer, Knacker, same difference where Ashley’s concerned.
Press comments on Prem TV money suggests that the top six’ll get richer and the rest’ll be cut adrift with domestic TV income falling over the years. If that’s so, Ashley’s either got to put up, get out or be prepared to see his investment lose value. We know what that’ll mean.

Comment #73Just a thought about the Rafa/Mitro relationship, how about Rafa said something on the lines of, “I don’t think you’re good enough and you have anger issues”, now go away to Fulham, prove me wrong, do well and let’s see.
That sounds to me like a Rafa retort.
If he knocks a few goals in in the WC, and his attitude is sorted, then maybe we will see him in a Toon shirt again. Do I want him? Dunno, I’ll leave that one up to Rafa.

Comment #74Staveley’s gone, a dim and distant memory. She could have been the most adored owner in the history of the league, but the people behind her either wouldn’t stump up the cash or what she would have left over wouldn’t have made it worth her while. Ashley’s hoping for that one guy to come in like an Abramovic or Sheik Mansour who doesn’t care about another £50M – if he’s out there, great. If not, we’ll be stuck with Ashley for a while yet.

Comment #76Rob @74 I found it interesting that Britain’s richest man (who is self-made and by no means a mug) reportedly offered £2bn (!) for Chelski, in the light of the UK Government belatedly getting to grips with Russian oligarchs plundering their own country. Turned down – not wisely, it may prove. What fraction of Chelski do you think NUFC is worth?

Chelsea own Stamford Bridge – a prime London site that’ll be worth a fortune, way way over a billion I’d guess – without any insight.
NUFC doesn’t own SJP and doubtless Ashley’ll have taken whatever tangible assets the club had. He’s sucked the Club’s life blood out of it and the fans.

Comment #809, yeah interesting report – but how accurate is it? I’m guessing there’s only a small number of people know the truth and none of them are on this blog.
Your implication is that if Chelsea are worth £2Bn then nufc are easily worth £400m and I’m not going to argue with that logic, but I’m pretty sure most economists would value us against the likes of Southampton, Leicester, West Ham etc rather than Chelsea, Man U etc.
Apparently the guy’s a Man U fan with a Chelsea season ticket and he tried to buy Chelsea as it’s more convenient. Sorry, but if he values a club because of how convenient it is then he’s no football fan and honestly I wouldn’t want to see him buying nufc. Frying pans and fires come to mind.
Sorry if this seems like a rant – certainly not directed at you, i thought your point was interesting.
