29-year-old Swansea City central midfielder Roque Mesa is reported to be interesting both Newcastle and Fulham.
The Spanish player only joined Swansea from for 11M last summer from Las Palmas and after playing 16 games for the south Wales club.
On 30 January this year, Mesa joined Sevilla for the remainder of the season, in a loan deal that included a buyout option.
So Sevilla have first option to sign the 5ft 7ins tall midfielder this summer.
Roque Mesa – in action against Watford last season
The news is reported by the Sevilla.ABC outlet but we would be surprised if Rafa is interested in this central midfielder.
Swansea are busy trying to adjust their outlays to the much-reduced revenues they will receive in the Championship although they do receive a parachute payment of £40M this season from the Premier League.
Then two more payments of £25M and £20M in the subsequent years if they are not back in the Premier League.
Newcastle currently have Jonjo Shelvey, Mo Diame, Mikel Merino and Isaac Hayden fighting it out in Newcastle’s central midfield.
Jack Colback is back from a had season loan at Nottingham Forest, but the former Sunderland midfielder has no future at the club, having dropped out of favor with the manager.
If Rafa does bring in another central midfielder it could mean one of those players will go out on loan – maybe Isaac Hayden, although the former Arsenal youngster can also play at right-back.
What do you think?

Comment #3On ST’s, I don’t have any more info than anybody else, but I’m also on the ten year deal and they’ve been taking my DD as per normal since seasons end, so it looks to me like those on the ten or nine year deal just carry on as usual.
We signed the agreement and unless you decide to withdraw from it, by cancelling your DD, I think we’re renewed automatically. That’s how it has been up to now and I haven’t heard anything to the contrary, so I’m just assuming we will be renewed. I don’t see how it would work any other way.
For those not on a long term deal, I would imagine you would need to renew by phone or email, or simply by going to the box office.
Since signing the ten year agreement I’ve never had to ‘renew’ my ST by any action,it just does it automatically.
Of course, that’s not official, but as nothing’s, changed so I think we’re covered. That was part of the original attraction I believe. Sign once for ten years ST’s at a fixed price and worry free renewal.

Comment #4Spain coach Julen Lopetegui will take over as Real Madrid boss after the World Cup. The 51-year-old, who has been in charge of the national team for the past two years, has agreed a three-year contract at the Bernabeu.
Can’t believe that West Ham and Everton missed out on this signing, after all the press link them with everyone.

Comment #5Seems strange timing for the announcement:
What if Spain fail and the fans blame the manager? The Madrid fans won’t give him a chance and will have him out before Christmas
It’s surely going to impact the Spanish team during the World Cup
It will surely motivate all the opposition players more, knowing that if they play well they could end up winning a move to the Bernabeu

Comment #17Tsunki – sorry mate but the literal translation of Roque Mesa in spanish would be Rook Table.
Rock would be Roca.
On topic though he does look a canny player but looks more suited to the spanish league or climate, it’s not a coincidence he went back to play in Spain in January.

Comment #19Cheers jail, done that I think. They had my date of birth wrong ffs. 🙂
Still, hopefully that’s it sorted now. It’s no big deal, just need to check the details are correct and link it all together.
This might sound like a strange question to everybody, but as far as you’re aware, do you all have medical records going back to when you were born?
I’m currently involved in a complaint. I had both kneecaps removed following a car crash 33 years ago. For most of that time I just assumed the surgeon had done his best and had nothing but praise for the guy.
Some time ago I snapped the tendon in the knee and had to go into hospital. The surgeon there looked horrified when he examined my knees and informed me I’d been ‘mutilated’. Told me he repaired shattered kneecaps all the time and mine should’ve been fixed, not removed. Even explained how, he would do it. Said they’d known for decades never to remove them because of the long term complications etc.
Long story but my own GP recently told me she was shocked when she first saw, them too and told me to file a complaint.
When she went to look at my medical records from the time, she discovered I have none. All my records appear to have been deleted.
Has anybody else had their records go missing? Or know of anybody who’s records have vanished?
I don’t see how this could happen, but I would appreciate any feedback. Thanks.

Comment #24I have never heard of records going missing but I guess they probably did all the time when your medical history was a tatty brown A5 envelope stuffed with loads of papers. Maybe your surgeon didn’t want you to trace your kneecaps. Were they valuable Bobby? You might try looking on eBay or gumtree.
Can you get prosthetic patellae now? I genuinely don’t know just asking.

If only your kneecap is damaged, an operation called a patellofemoral replacement or patellofemoral joint arthroplasty can be performed. This involves a smaller surgery with a faster recovery time. However, the long-term results are still unclear and it’s not suitable for most people with osteoarthritis.

Comment #30No, you can’t have prosthetic kneecaps. All your tendons, muscles etc are, attached to the back of the kneecap and it has to be living tissue with a through blood flow.
Joints aren’t a problem as a rule, but not the actual cap. You can have something inserted just to make it look better, but they’re not functioning.
Unfortunately I can’t even have new knee joints because of the lack of a kneecap.
It’s left me with a deteriorating problem.
Funny thing is, my half brother – who I didn’t know at the time – was hit by a car the year before I had my accident. He had his kneecap shattered and they fixed his.
There’s a lot more to it, it’s complicated, but despite my records going missing, the complaint department found my xrays and operation notes on a microfilm, so we’ll find out now if he did his best, as I’d always assumed, or if the second surgeon was right saying I’d been mutilated. Nasty word that shouldn’t be used lightly.
I’m curious to know about the missing records though. I don’t see how records can go missing and hence the question.
It’s not a simple case of potential negligence unfortunately, there’s a whole lot of background shit too detailed to go into here and now but it’s quite potentially explosive. Turns out this guy might have been on a mission. Scary shit.
I’m just curious to know if anybody knows of medical records going missing and how it could happen?

Comment #33Bobby – what? You mean this guy could have been a serial dodgepot? It might explain records going AWOL, I always thought medical records were guarded like the crown jewels, it would have taken some effort for a surgeon to “misplace” them. Scary.

Comment #35It’s highly unlikely that the surgeon could makes notes disappear. His paperwork / x-rays etc are issued to him when and where required. It’s not like he keeps them in a locked cabinet like Quincey. However big change few years back when they wanted to digitalise all patients records and this is more likely when they went missing. If this is some kind of Harold Shipman bloke there should be forums etc where you can exchange information to help build up a case if indeed there is one..

Comment #36Tsunki, that might be a new thing, mine happened in 1985.
The surgeon who used the word ‘mutilated’ was horrified when he examined my knees. You can’t fake that look. When I explained it was a long time ago he wouldn’t have any of it. He explained exactly how you repair a shattered kneecap, which made perfect sense.
If it’s broke you can wire it and if it’s shattered, you put a plate behind it and place all the bits on the plate, take a bone graft from your hip and let nature take its course. Then when it’s all fused together again, you reattach the tendons etc. He operates on footballers and rugby players all the time. Reckons he does it regularly.
Like I say, I was defending the original surgeon and said about the time period but he wouldn’t have it. Reckons that’s why the IRA used to kneecap people, because it leaves you in chronic pain for the rest of your life. (I can confirm that by the way). That’s why he says you fix it, not remove it.
I’m just waiting now to find out the result of this investigation. As you can imagine, my head’s up my arse. 🙂 Not sure how I’ll get my head around it if I find out I was mutilated.
With my medical records all going missing, had it not been for this microfilm storage system nobody would be able to decide for sure if the damage warranted removal. Which is why I want to know if them going missing was an attempt to cover up.

Comment #38Tsunki, exactly that mate. Nicely put – serial dodgepot! 🙂
My life would’ve been completely different. I’m struggling to get about now even on crutches. Any day out involves a wheelchair now as they’ve gradually deteriorated over the years.
I has a good job at the time with great prospects. They kindly paid me whilst I was in hospital – they didn’t have to – but I was never going to be able to go back to that job after I came out.
Never crossed my mind for one second that he might’ve done something unnecessary and I just accepted my lot. I was grateful to be alive after all. It was only when this other surgeon examined me that the possibility was even raised. He said he would’ve had me back playing football, not just walking without crutches. Proper mind ****. In a way I wish I’d never been told, but I can’t unlearn that now. Now I need to know the truth and this waiting is battering my head! 🙂
Everybody else I’ve asked have their full medical records with their GP. I’ve not found anybody else who even knows of anybody not having records. It’s all very stressful.
