Rafa Could Make Surprise Move To Bring This Player Back To Newcastle

There is some news in the London press today that Rafa is interested in signing Andros Townsend from Crystal Palace.

Andros was one of the players who decided to stay in the Premier League when we were relegated two years ago, and he left Newcastle for Palace.

But he was a good player for Newcastle when he was here, and he could be a good signing for us if he does come back.

Andros wanted to stay in the Premier League to help his England ambitions, but he is not in the England squad in Russia and hasn’t been in the England squad much at all since he left Newcastle.

Rafa Benitez with Andros Townsend – May 2016

Benitez is a huge fan of the winger, and while Robert Kenedy remains the number one choice, if we cannot get the 22-year-old Brazilian in for next season then Townsend would be a decent enough alternative.

Townsend played 36 Premier League games last season for Palace, and in the two seasons he’s been back in London he’s scored 5 goals and has 16 assists in 79 total appearances.

The big question is what will Townsend cost; Kenedy is said to be worth up to £20M by Chelsea.

And maybe to keep the costs down, we could get Townsend in on a season-long loan with an option to buy?

While at Newcastle Townsend scored 4 goals and 2 assists in 13 appearances for us, but we were still relegated.

What do you think?

I like Townsend but prefer Kenedy. I just find the whole scraping the barrel situation completely disgusting. The Fat clown of owner we have has to leave! He is clueless, careless and greedy! He will necer change! He simply has to fcuk off! After the incredible achievement Rafa has done once again he will not be afforded a reasonable transfer budget as a reward. It beggars belief. ASHLEY OUT!!!!!!!!!!!

Season ticket prices up and not a squeak, no justification from the club.

Ashley’s taking his advertising at no cost to SD and thus takinh fans for granted – taking the piss!

Lesh – He’s been doing that since the day he bought the club mate – nothing new there.
He’s stripped club assets for personal gain; He has free advertising for his main interest (SD) which costs the club millions every year; He has zero interest in the fans, or the club – He’s just put all the prices up for season tickets; He’s completed 1 player purchase because it had a time limit on it – other than that – nothing!!

It’s all fairly mundane in the Ashley scheme of things – the fans will all renew, the ground will be full when Spurs turn up for the new season – Ashley will be happy, Rafa will complete the season and then he’ll leave – THAT’s the biggest travesty of the situation!!

His reception was unpleasant and unnecessary. If I was him, I wouldn’t
